We had a disappointing experience at the Lodgepole Grill and Bar. Upon arrival to a fairly empty restaurant soon after 12 pm, we were given a brunch menu that had ended at 11. Upon inquiry, we learned the menu we could order from was on the back, and it had very few options - main courses were a house-made burger or a Philly cheese steak or a salad. I ordered a burger for me and one for my children to split, as well as some bbq chicken wings and pretzel bites. We only got water to drink. The pretzel bites were hard and the cheese sauce looked quite lumpy. The wings were pretty good, very saucy, and the burgers were nothing special. My wife tried to order a Philly cheese steak and substitute a salad for the fries, but the waitress said they could only do the salad for an additional $6 so she asked the waitress for only the salad instead of the Philly cheese steak. That seemed to be confirmed, but the waitress still brought her the sandwich and was going to bring us a salad too before we canceled it. There was no credit or free dessert or drink or anything offered for the mistake. We heard something similar happen with the group at the next table over.
The prices were also not good. It was a $75 lunch. We got dinner for the whole family in West Yellowstone that evening for less expensive, and it was better food. (That was at Three Bear Restaurant!)
Finally, there were some strange things with the staff. One waitress had a child following her in and out of the kitchen, holding a $20 bill and walking in and out of the tables. A lady at the bar was sitting with two employees (I assume they were employees because they were going in and out of the kitchen) who was swearing, and she sent her plate back into the kitchen just to try “a little bit” of something which didn’t seem like a sanitary way to have a friend try your restaurant food. Fine at home, not how it should be in a commercial kitchen.
All in all, we wouldn’t go back for anything. Should’ve tried the Mexican place...
Read moreWe ordered the chicken fried steak dinners with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of “grilled” veggies. It came out super greasy and that’s the only flavor you could taste when you chewed the chicken fried steak. The gravy was a weird sausage gravy. We mentioned we didn’t like our meal and the waiter was nice and offered us something else but there wasn’t a lot of choices so we declined. We figured they would have gave atleast half off for our food that we didn’t eat but no they gave us 5 dollars off and the meal was $25 dollars each. I basically paid 115 dollars for my daughter and husband to have a burger with fries and chicken strips with fries and a side order of fried pickles that weren’t even edible :( sweet people but the food...
Read moreWe always stay at the cabins here at the pines once a year. The restaurant had been closed for a while and it finally opened. It was my first time trying it. It is more expensive but we really enjoyed it and I’d eat here again next time we visit. We met the owner and she was very nice. We had a great waitress as well. My mom and I ordered the fried pickles and they were excellent. They came with fry sauce, I was so happy this restaurant had fry sauce. My mom ordered a salad which she enjoyed. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries. Our waitress and the owner suggested that and said that is what they are known for and it was so good! It was a great recommendation. The portions were...
