Had dinner for Valentines; Nice decor for Valentines 💝 plastic shield separating tables, so was a nice touch for Covid precautions. Main dish; Cedar Salmon very good! Interesting flavor combo! Appetizer; pretzel bites wi th cheese, served without plates. plates were provided later. Pretzel seemed to be coated with butter ..prefer dry texture of pretzels. Still tasty 😋 Dessert creme Brule, never had this served cold, not sure if desired affect, but texture and taste was on point. Service, waitress pleasant demeanor overall.

12 20 21 Saturday, Had reservations for another restaurant for my bday with friends. But due to cold weather had to cancel. They were able to make reservations for 5 last minute.

Was hoping things to go well, for my big bday... Seated in the garden, was surprisingly nice. Warm.

Appetizers we ordered were all good, duck poppers, Flatbread pizza with scallops...really good.

Main dish..organic chicken was good, and all other dishes were good, except for mine. ( will add chicken was good, butternut squash was underdone)

I ordered lobster ravioli...I had never in my life returned a dish...seriously. It was served with undercooked butternut squash, the ravioli, was swimming in what was supposed to be a sauce, but was actually flavorless liquid: Completely inedible. I ordered I got crab cakes in stead, the appetizer and that came out quickly, and was descent.

The desert, cheesecake, nothing special.

Now this was intersting ; a server young man, from kitchen seemed to be walking to our table and then turning around and leaving..aimlessly walking. (Not serving anything). I would not mention if it was maybe 1 to 3x. However this persistent pattern of behavior continued the whole evening...I would quess 30x. Do not want to judge, what would cause this type of obsessive repetitive action, all I can suggest a restaurant is not the place for this.

Same young man when served the meal, almost spilled the dish, while practically dropping the dish on table. Don't know how else to explain this dinning...

I arrived at 5pm on a Friday evening understanding that there would be a wait time. I approached the front desk where three girls were hosting. Two of them stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Finally I said “hello”, I would like a table for 6. was quoted 35-45 minutes. Sure, no problem. I was given a buzzer and began my wait time.

During the 20 minutes I was waiting, I observed 34 patrons exit the restaurant. Yes, I counted. It’s a thing I do to pass time. I approached the hostess station to inquire how much longer and I was rudely told: “You were quoted 35-45 minutes and you’ve only been waiting “like” 15 minutes.” Well, it was 20 minutes as I can actually read an analog clock and count the minutes that have passed.

Moving on, my buzzer goes off immediately and the three hostess girls gave me a not so nice look as we returned the buzzer and followed a totally separate person to our table.

Well our table was outside with heat lamps, none of which we were prepared for. Keeping in mind that we passed several table that would accommodate our group, all of which needed to be cleaned up. Moving on. We had an excellent waitress who was attentive and punctual. However, the food was mediocre.

I used to frequent Tony’s when I lived in the area and never had a complaint. But tonight, I ordered a cheeseburger, well done. I received said cheeseburger, cooked medium. Not worth complaining about at that point. The french fries were soggy and tasteless. Just overall not impressed with my experience. Do better with your hostess training, they are the first impression of...

My god was this food so bad. I got the Buffalo sliders and they were disgusting. Bun was store bought and wasn’t toasted or seasoned in any way - just raw chewy bun bread. Meat tasted like it was going sour and rancid, the onions were basically raw (not crispy fried onions as advertised), cheese wasn’t melted, sauce was non existent, pickles on the plate were sickly looking. I couldn’t even eat it. Side of French fries were bland, undercooked, and anemic. Other than that, the outside bar had a nice ambiance with music that wasn’t overly loud. Service was okay and staff were friendly and helpful. Beer and wine selection was fine. I would go here again only for some drinks on the patio. Additionally, I had a stout that was only 6.5% they they served me in a snifter and lower ounce serving generally reserved for 8-10% beers. EDIT: thought maybe it was just the sliders that were bad. Been here multiple times since then. Every single time the good has been gross. Staff are great and place is clean with a good ambience, so no complaints there. Buffalo sliders were taken off the menu but everything else was still bad. Spinach and artichoke dip, frozen with stale chips. Pretzels with cheese, pretzels were obviously cooked from frozen and dripping in a pool of oil that was disgusting to eat. Fried pickles were obviously fried from frozen. Pizza somehow managed to be underwhelming and bland with ground beef, pickles, cheese, thousand island, and tomatoes. Bottom line: this is the place to go for drinks and a relaxed atmosphere with good staff....

It is a nice place with a beautiful outdoor seating area. Service was good. Staff was fast and friendly. However, there were lots of flies around wanted to share our food. Seared tuna was cold. It tasted like it was prepared yesterday and put on the fridge. Green garnish coming with the food wasn’t also looking fresh. Chefs NySteak was literally a Walmart quality steak, definitely not worth $28. I asked for medium, but it was definitely a well done. It was chewy, i did even had hard time to cut it. We asked for pasta for kid, and it came within a bowl half filled with butter. Not the best place in the area.

The original Tony's Place in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia was where I "cut my teeth" on tomato pies back in the late 1990s. Unfortunately, they closed a few years back. I will say that while I don't think Tony's Place Bar & Grill is as good as the original Tony's was, the tomato pie was absolutely delicious and very reminiscent of the old bar off of Frankford Avenue! The crisp, "paper thin" crust, tangy sauce on top of the right amount of cheese, and the garlic aftertaste had me as close to the 90s as I'll get these days!! It was more than easy to eat all eight slices!
