What a lunch. Made a trip to Jacksboro and visited Dustin Trevino. Ur like why the middle of nowhere to a place not even in the top 100 on Texas Monthly. Well to be honest my friend Fred said it's a must stop on my bbq quest across Texas. He said it's up my alley. Boyyyyy was he....
Right. This place greeted us as soon as we walked in. Behind the counter and behind the kitchen. Dustin hooked us up with a rib special and most of us opted for the 3 meat sampler. Brisket, jalapeno sausage and ribs did not disappoint. Corn was on point and that chorizo mac n cheese was next level. Banana pudding in that cinnamon tossed fried shell was awesome. I didn't care for the bbq sauce but I'm not a big sauce guy. Bark on the turkey, ribs and brisket was just right. Not as thick as mine with all my seasoning but definitely full of flavor.
Back to customer service. I have never seen folks who genuinely table visit multiple times like they did to make sure we were enjoying our food. The ladies run the show and Dustin cleans up haha. But seriously, top notch all the way across the board. As we left I got to introduce myself and the group to Dustin. He was down to earth and I probably talked more bbq 101 with him than the group was ready for lol. Showed him some of my food and then he goes and grabs 5 lbs of rib ends since I like party ribs for me to take home. WHAT?! Then as we are departing I ask about some Dr Pepper corn hole boards as my bestie Taylor is a DP fanatic. He GIVES them to him. Like who does that. I'll tell ya, someone who recognizes fans of bbq and Dr Pepper. Dustin and the team thanks for ending our week on a positive note and full bellies. May your business continue to grow!
BTW look out for food truck updates if you can't make it...
Read moreI'm a HUGE foodie. I have to start by saying that I admire what Treveños is doing, I think the execution is sub-par. The first time I went in, I had a great meal at a decent price, but each visit gets worse & worse. Last visit, I ordered a sandwich. When I got it, I asked if there was supposed to be fries with it, the cashier told me, "They didn't have fries today." Today, when I went in, I got the sandwich again & made sure to specify I wanted fries. When I sat down & looked at my receipt, the fries were $3.63. I thought that was ok until I saw the portion size. No bigger than the palm of your hand.. & that was the entire serving! I thought that's where the misery ended, but they were cold & not crisp at all. Almost as if they were frozen & thawed in the microwave. Not to mention, the sauce that I got for my sandwich was water consistency. I don't like a soggy bun. I reached for the sauce from the fridge instead. Bottom line, I won't be back due to the price:portion ratio. I can drive up the road to The Green Frog & pay the same amount & get 2 additional meals with double the...
Read moreDrove a little over a hour to check out Trevino’s. I was there right before open and a line started to build. I was able to get everything I wanted to try luckily, as I was leaving the list of sold out was growing quickly.
I loaded up on quite the platter so I could “make it count” and everything was amazing. A lot of unique flavors you aren’t getting from other bbq places so it makes them stand out as well as hard to compare to others. I didn’t have a bad bite in everything I had. Brisket, sausage, ribs, turkey, burger and brisket taco all great. Beans, corn, potato salad, Mac n cheese all elevated beyond the normal sides.
That sopapilla cheesecake bowl is something else. Go grab one of those while they are still just $3.99, it’s the best dessert bang for your buck you’re gonna find.
Get there early, check em out before they blow up. They are better than some of the places I’ve been to that made...
