Service was excellent. I love the atmosphere of the place, but the food was a real let down. The appetizer was done perfectly except that the cheese sticks for a bit cold, but it was a to-go order so you can kind of expect that to some degree. The sauces that came with the appetizer confused me. There was no ranch or marinara for the cheese sticks. There was a mustard based sauce, a sauce with capers in it (possibly tartar sauce... Didn't taste like it though), and a remoulade. It almost seemed like all of the sauces were geared towards the boudin balls, which were pretty good. The potato wedges were nice and hot and cooked just right. So the combo app was actually not too bad. It was just seemed to be missing the appropriate sauces for 2/3 of the appetizer. The real problem that I had and the reason why I gave the low score was the shrimp etouffee. My whole family is from Louisiana. Song from Baton Rouge, some from New Orleans and some from Lafayette, and I have never had etouffee that looked or tasted like that. Firstly, the roux wasn't browned at all. It looks like it was cooked for all of 5 minutes. There was no cayenne pepper flavour. It tasted like a plain veloute with diced tomatoes and room temp rice. The roll was hard. Had I not paid $54 for those two items, I probably wouldn't be writing this review, but I feel like I certainly did not get my money's worth. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I felt like this was something you probably needed to know if you are wanting things to be done right. And I'm not saying it's the cooks fault. Started out so nice. Staff seemed friendly, nice little place. But it all took a turn once you ordered. Ordered wings to start, then ribeye for the main. And of course, a salad and baked potato. Well, then it gets worse. And then, here comes the steak, the waitress doesn't know why we got the steak first, but admits she wouldn't have done it like that either. So I had ordered the steak medium rare, and had it repeated back to me. Let's get through this first, the steak is under cooked, I would have guessed it wouldn't even be classified as a rare. I would also venture the potato is crazy under cooked as well. It was probably thrown in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes just to get it hot. sour cream is in a packet. And to my surprise, NO salad. The waitress says, she is going to get my salad, don't see her again until she comes by and asks if we are doing ok. AGAIN leaves to get the salad, and someone else brings out the wings. To finally close this fiasco, I never got the salad, the wings were hot. And you can bet I will never darken the door of this establishment again. A local person had steered me that was saying, "it's hit or miss". I just wonder what a hit would have been like. I am going to guess the breakdown is in the kitchen. Or possible untrained staff. Horrible service!!! I ordered what I usually order but I got it without cheese. They couldn’t make it the normal way (with cheese) so they decided to try something new. I got there to pay for my food and was unpleasantly surprised at what they tried to sell me! I didn’t feel it was fair and refused to pay. I left and next thing I know I was getting back to back calls (harassment btw) from the little server “mikayla Hollingsworth (or at least that’s what she told me her name is)” who told me I wasn’t welcomed anymore and that they called the police on me! Mind you I was very polite in telling them I was not going to pay for something I did not order.
