My experience at the South Jackson location was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. The carne asada nor the supposedly fish tacos had any flavor whatsoever and was served on cold corn tortillas straight out of packages. The rice nor beans had any flavor. The beans seemed like they were just a refried canned bean and mixed with something to make them appear red. Literally everything was cold and flavorless. Nothing was authentic, including the salsas. The only half decent thing there was the guacamole, which was only subpar. This overpriced food ended up being thrown away as the three of us walked out in disappointment. Stick to the Mexican bakeries and taqueria’s in Jackson! As for the option on this survey of, “ Which dishes do you recommend?” NONE, JUST DON’T GO. So...
Read moreI was skeptical due to the mixed reviews, but decided to try it out. I can definitely say that the steak and fries on both the Cali burrito and the Carne asada fries were very bland and had absolutely no flavor. Almost like the steak was boiled. I will say, however, that the birria taco was great, had flavor and was a good size. The burritos and fries, however bland they were, definitely were not small, plenty of food. The street corn was also very good and came in a full size cup. The service was great as well, employees were nice and i had no issues with the order being wrong, like I do most of the time. So 5 stars on that front. I won't say to avoid this place, but I'd recommend avoiding the steak and the fries. I'll be trying something different the next time for sure. But there will...

I was both surprised and excited to see an Oscar's Taco Shop, not only in my hometown, but south of town, which is an area that has been lacking in quality dining options for many years. I ordered the Surf & Turf burrito and was more than impressed. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly, bursting with flavor, and the portion size was more than filling. The self serve salsa bar offered 4 different salsa's; 2 tomato base and 2 tomatillo base. It was an enjoyable experience overall, and I will...
