4 stars even though our waitress provided us one of the worst experiences I can remember. The food and her coworkers made up the difference and we would definitely go back.

We went after a long day of hiking and biking at Jenny lake with our 2 year old. We were happy to find a family friendly menu and atmosphere. We both had the lumberjack burgers and fries while our toddler had the kids quesadilla with fries. I was also happy to see the option to add avocados, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and a few other items. Additionally, the beef is grass fed and sustainably raised locally, in Jackson, WY.

The food was pretty good, came out in less than 10 minutes, and was nice and hot. Our toddler, who can be a picky eater, absolutely tore up her quesadilla. The price was also very reasonable, especially considering the area and other dining options.

Finally, the view from the dining area is amazing. We were seated in a corner table where two windows look directly out to the lake and mountains. I believe they have some outdoor seating as well, also looking out over the lake and to the mountains.

As for the service, we pretty much had 2 touchpoints with our waitress. When she took our order and when she brought our check. She didn't stop by our table at any point between. She didn't bring our food out, didn't check on how everything came out, didn't refill any drinks... nothing. Our food came out, we all finished eating, and we still had to wait quite a while AFTER we finished to ask for the check. The icing on the cake was when we were leaving. On our way out the door, we passed by her (literally right by her), she looked at us, we were about to say thanks, and she just looked away and walked right by. No thanks, no bye, no come again...nothing.

I know everyone has a bad day, but we couldn't help but note how jovial and welcoming she was with the other table in our section.

However, her coworkers were great. The guy who was at the host stand (didn't catch his name, but he was pretty tall and had dark hair) got us seated as soon as possible, ran our food out to us, and then ran back to the kitchen to get a couple extra condiments for us. What was even better was that he specifically ran our daughters food out early, as soon as it was ready. Anyone with a toddler can appreciate that.

If you're in the grand tetons, this is a great...

***UPDATE After my review, the Food & Beverage Director reached out personally, apologized, and processed a refund. While my experience at Trapper Grill was deeply disappointing and I do not plan to return, I do feel some vindication knowing that my voice was heard and the situation will be used as a training opportunity. As a Christian, I believe it’s important to acknowledge when someone takes responsibility and seeks to make things right. I leave the rest in God’s hands. ""UPDATE

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. The waitress never once asked if our party wanted drinks beyond water and acted as if serving us was a burden. When I ordered pancakes with their “signature” huckleberry compote, I was told it wasn’t available—only to have her point to the jelly packets on the table as if that were an acceptable substitute. Completely insulting.

My second choice, avocado sourdough toast, arrived burnt beyond edible. When I asked to have it remade, the manager (who delivered it himself) refused. Instead, he dismissed the issue by removing it from the bill and tacking on a meaningless 10% “employee discount.” That’s not customer service—that’s avoidance.

To make matters worse, when I asked for the meal packed to-go, the waitress gave me a hard time and reluctantly handed over containers, making it clear she didn’t care whether I ate at all.

Between false menu promises, food served inedible, and staff who act like guests are inconveniences, I left feeling not just disappointed but disrespected. The beautiful location doesn’t excuse...

Food (3/5): The portions are fantastic, you definitely get your money's worth. However, two out of the three of us didn't much love our food of choice. My 17 year old daughter ordered the fish tacos and only ate one. She did not like the taste. I ordered the Mexican salad and although the portion size was incredible, it was very dry and the beef on top simply tasted average. The sweet potato fries were average but tasted almost soggy due to the amount of oil. My favorite part of the meal was the nacho appetizer. Again, the potion size was fantastic, the chips were dry and the ingredients were stacked on top of each other rather than spread out. The cheese was not melted on more than half through chips and the ingredients weren't spread out evenly.

Service (2/5): It took about 10 min or so before we were greeted by someone. Our waitress was not timely, she seemed more interested in chatting with the customers, even when not invited, than making sure we had everything we needed. She forgot my daughter's drink and also seemed annoyed when I was ordering and asked if the cooks could refrain from including two of the ingredients listed on the menu. Again when it was time to pay, we asked her for to-go containers and she appeared annoyed again. I don't ever remember her asking us if we needed anything.

Atmosphere (5/5): the atmosphere was the best part. We were able to sit outside on the deck which was on Jenny Lake and overlook the Grand Teton...

Our experience at Trapper Grill was mixed but overall enjoyable. We specifically requested a patio seat to enjoy the stunning view of Jenny Lake and the mountains, and after a 15-minute wait with a buzzing device, we were accommodated. However, there was an additional 25-minute wait for our food after placing our order. We ordered nachos and chicken quesadilla, both of which were delicious and satisfying. There was a slight hiccup as we initially received half a portion of nachos instead of the full order, but the staff quickly rectified the mistake by bringing us the rest shortly thereafter. It's also worth noting that we had to request lemon slices for our water multiple times, which was a bit frustrating. Nevertheless, the huckleberry lemonade was a delightful treat, and we appreciated the wide variety of beers available. The service, although friendly, was a bit slow during our visit. The atmosphere on the patio was serene and enhanced by the breathtaking scenery. Despite the wait times and minor issues with service, the quality of the food and the scenic views made our visit to Trapper Grill memorable. We would recommend it for anyone visiting Grand Teton National Park looking for a good meal with a view.
