I Had high hopes for this new restaurant in town, as they share the same chef with "solo farm & table" but I was utterly disappointed.
I'm not here to bash anybody, my only hope is that a review like this will be a wake up call for this new place...
One of the nearby shops informed me about honeypie, they couldn't stop praising this new restaurant on how amazing their sausages are, so naturally I wanted to see what the craze is all about.
I walked in on a Friday afternoon with one of my friends, and decided to go with their Moroccan sausage first, and then based on how good it is, decide if we want to order other items on the menu...
yes their staff looked overwhelmed for some reason, although we were the only 2 people in the restaurant at times, but that can be fixed with proper training, but where I can't and won't take any excuses is for the blandness and distastefulness of the sausage! And for some reason - although it was a steep $7.5 - I couldn't find the promised tzatsiki or beats on it...
Bottom line: If you are looking for a place to relax, rejuvenate, and "maybe" get a drink this is the perfect place for you! With clean bathrooms, and a modern interior, and last but not least, siting outside under a former gas station rooftop... But if you are looking for anything related food, you came to the wrong spot! No taste in the sausage, embarrassing serving size, you are paying a steep price for nothing.
I usually try to go over to discuss my concerns with those in charge, if I have time, and "only" if It looks like the chef / owner wasn't aware of the situation, and this wasn't the case here! Wesley was in and out of the kitchen the whole time, and unfortunately I had no time on my side.
Again, I only hope that they take their feedback serious, and start changing things around... The restaurant is still in its first month, so it's not yet too late to get back on track.
Cons: way overpriced. you are getting a measly thin sausage. you can buy 4 or more sausages and you will still leave hungry, their servings are so tiny. their prices doesn't reflect their fast food counter ordering.
Pros: clean bathroom. spacious interior. lots of outdoor...
Read moreCame across this gem driving through Southern Vermont. Something about this place drew me in. The crowd, the fact that it was clearly an old gas station, still with its large pump canopy or it’s cool vibe with a colorful art mural on the side of the building, it was all of that. It’s the food that keeps me coming back. Not a fine restaurant and not quite fast food, but something in between. I’d say Vermonts country version of Shake Shake. You place your order at the window, they bring it out and call your name. I really enjoyed the OG Burger which comes with two thin patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickled onions and a spicy special sauce. I added fresh cooked bacon for $1. All this together really works. The Fried Chicken Sandwich served with lettuce, tomato, pickled onion on a bed of cabbage topped with their green goddess sauce was really good. They use local farm raised chicken, but it’s not a cutlet, it’s ground into a patty with a crispy breaded outside. I chose to add their spicy special sauce to it as well. Buns were very good too. Their Fries are shoestring type and are cooked crispy to perfection, however a bit too salty. They also offer soft serve and a full menu of Shakes made from their own custard recipe that are thick and delicious, although on my visit for this rating, they had no ice cream to make any. Disappointing for sure. As the name would imply, they offer homemade Honeypie, haven’t tried it yet, but I hear it’s sweet and delicious. They offer many other items including a line of handmade sausage with ingredients sourced locally and interesting salads too. Beer, wine, coolers, homemade lemonades, (the maple lemonade was surprisingly good) as well as a full line of bottled sodas are available too. Currently take out and outside table dining only. Overall a great spot with a large following, serving comfort food with awesome fresh ingredients, all made...
Read moreThis is an old Valero gas station that was repurposed into almost what I think to be like an old style burger & milkshake joint, but with way more than just the average burger !! You order inside and there are tables set up in a blocked area of what was once where the gas pumps once stood. Burgers are freshly ground and pressed daily within a toasted potato bun, and all the fixings. Milkshakes are made from scratch with milk from a local dairy. There's soft serve ice cream (custard recipe), sausages, sandwiches, specials, and beer, too! I had a Grilled Cheese but their special with pesto added SO GOOD!!! And my friend got the Papi special, and her husband requested we bring home some of their yummy fried and a delicious milkshake, albeit probably melted by the time we got home but just tells you how favored this place is. Staff was very nice and allowed me to taste test a beer before I purchased (always love that!), I look forward to returning. This is a favorite amongst locals and if you're passing through Jamaica, stop over and try them for yourself, and don't forget your...
