Had not been here for a while. Buffet was improves a good deal from last time I was here. The one in Stevenson AL is still better but this one is ok.
update - 5 years later decided to give it another try. Was very disappointed. quality has gone down a good deal. Got the buffet. Mistake. EVERYTHING on my plate was cold - cold as in room temperature. I'm not a picky eater and abhor wasting food and rarely leave anything on my plate. But this time I could only force about a third of it down. See the pic for what I left. I don't normally complain either but when asked how it was I told them it was all cold. I just did not feel like lying and saying it was OKsince it was so bad. I was not mean about it. Just matter of fact. I did not ask for it nor want it but to his credit the manager picked up the ticket. So they were nice about it. But it is disappointing to get a bad meal. I don't really care that muich about the cost. The buffet was perhaps a little high at $18 but it is like that everywhere now so I'm not knocking them for cost. But with the quality of the food being poor I just did not see it worth my time. At the end I thought well perhaps I can get some ice cream. You can't mess that up. But they no longer have an ice cream machine. Oh well. I felt kinda nauseous by then anyway. I don't want to be mean but it will be a lot more than 5 years before I try it again even if it is 5 minutes from my house. (likely never) The thought of it is VERY unappealing. Surely most of the business is freeway business. There's not much to pick from around here but I'm still not tempted to go back in the least. Sorry. Maybe we caught them at a bad time (1:30 local time on Friday) but it's off the list for me. The staff was fine. It was relatively busy whch normally is a good sign. But if the food is no good it is a no go for me. It's a shame. There was a time when this place was pretty decent. That...
Read moreWe just stopped in here to eat at this Western Sizzlin Steakhouse. My dad’s wife recently had a weight loss surgery and was given a medical card because she can’t eat a full meal. At the most she can eat two bites. The medical card allows the patient to purchase a meal off the child’s menu or purchase a child’s buffet. The young lady at the front was very rude to her and told her they can’t accept her medical card. She rudely told her she would give her a box and she could weigh what she wanted to eat. She didn’t want to sit at the table and eat out of a box and look like an outcast. Nor did she want to put food in a box that she wouldn’t eat. At the dinner table, she took a bite of my dad’s chicken and was full because that is all her stomach would hold. The waitress then brought a new ticket to my dad and added a full buffet to my dad’s ticket just because she took one bite of chicken. We asked for a manager. The manager came and was very rude with us and told her that she was given the option to pay for the full buffet or eat out of a box, and he says they don’t honor medical cards. She was treated horribly and rudely and was loudly embarrassed in front of other people. They would have made more money from letting her buy the child’s buffet than weighing a bite of chicken. I hope the $15 for the buffet that she didn’t eat was worth it to them to charge my dad for. The service and the food was terrible. I hope this place shuts down or gets new management that will honor medical cards. That was the most expensive bite of chicken that she had and to top it all off the chicken was not good at all. This is terrible how they...
Read more1 yr Update: Still no greeting by the cashier when you first walk in. Pleasant wait staff. Decent food.
Original review: Upon entering, We weren't greeted. Instead the two ladies at the counter asked if they could help us. Once we let them know that we were coming to dine in, they did direct us over to the ordering counter. At the ordering counter, the lady didn't give any explanation of how things work. I had to ask her about the hot bar before she explained that you could either order an entree off of the menu or do the 'all you can eat' buffet. I guess all of the front of the house staff assume that everyone coming through the doors knows how things work here. We didn't.
The food itself was good, but not great. Straight off the buffet it was only warm/room temperature and was piled up with no consideration of presentation. They 'require' that you wear gloves when getting food from the buffet (which, in theory, is a great way to keep down the spread of germs), but didn't enforce this policy so the majority of customers weren't using gloves.
When we returned to the table from getting our food at the hot bar, a waitress (Heather, I think) had placed cleaning supplies on our table. When she brought us more salad plates (to replace the ones she had potentially sprayed with cleaning spray), she was touching the top eating parts of the plate with her bare hands (not very sanitary). Our actual waitress, Mia, was personable and attentive. Although Heather didn't apologize, Mia did apologize for her.
The decor was outdated and in need of some deep cleaning (worn/stained carpets and...
