I'm not a fan of places in 2024 still having "cash only" signs. There are endless ways to implement card processing that it should be an embarrassment to have it in this year. However, despite all the signs, at the counter, they have one small sign that says they take credit and another with the %fee charged 🙄. Quite a different beef note than Johnnie's/Michael's, but only from the actual beef. The juice is very delicious and spiced well. Extremely tender and moist. Beef stretches a bit before tearing, but maybe a bit too salty. Maybe it's sliced roast beef marinated in the Italian beef spices and juice to cook it more as opposed to a solid italian beef roast cooked and sliced to be put in its own juice? The bread held up more than I would expect for 6 layers of paper to be soaked through with juice. The fries are very reminiscent of Gene and Judes. Just fresh cut spuds dropped right in the oil, less crisp and a little soft, but delicious all their own. The cheese sauce was fine, nothing special, but not the appalling food service brand others use. Rather enjoyed it 4.5/5 Beef The differences don't detract from the overall excellent sandwich, but if you are specific about the beef meat flavor itself, you should try it yourself for sure.

Chicago-authentic hot dogs from Vienna and Vienna Italian beef as well. Get a side of onion rings. The beef can be ordered with mozzorela cheese and toasted, which is a big, big sandwich. Basic little place with occasional specials like chili, dogs come with their hand-cut fries, a great way to stink up the car but wow, how great thou art! A better bet for a perfect Chicago dog than say, Gene & Jude's nearby, and a short hike or drive up the street to the forest preserve or cemetery for a shady spot off the asphalt roads and car fumes. Every neighbrohood used to have a good hot dog; this is one of the best and time-proven as a stalwart holdout to simpler times. Rock and roll radio playing, counter seating and in summer, a couple of picnic tables out front.

$35 worth of food would get you 1 char dog, 1 Chicago style hotdog, a double cheese burger with everything (all with fries) a extra large Diet Coke that is shareable!, a large onion rings, and a 12 oz container of chili. The last time I was here I was 20. I am now 36 and the food still holds up the fries our hand cut the double cheeseburger was fire (they use red onions!) great food for amazing prices for these times.

The experience I had here the last time was definitely not a good one, which is close to something worse, but I still decided to come back just recently. I must say that the experience I had was way better than the last time. The store is clean and bright, and it is not busy. The staff are nicer and friendlier, which is really nice because if the staff I talked to were rude, I would not have ordered a single thing. This restaurant is really a good one, and it's a good thing that their staff are also better now. They do not offer much on their menu, but everything I could ask for is there, including sandwiches, hotdogs, fries, and anything. I got myself one of their hot dogs, which is really my favorite thing on their menu, and it is really good. I also ordered their fresh-cut fries, which were really good too, and they were crispy. However, they were kind of burnt, which is why there was an aftertaste that I did not really appreciate. Their prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of their food. An important note is that they only...

I really enjoy eating there food... Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be going here anymore... I was just driving by and thought I would drop in for a quick hot dog... I was informed by the male cashier that they are only accepting cash... As someone who rarely carries cash on them I wasn't going to leave go to an ATM and then come back... They do have an ATM there that charges a fee to get your money...What is a bit bothersome about that is the owner of the place also owns the ATM machine...It's kinda like double dipping in my eyes...You charge your customers to get money to purchase your product??? Hmmm, I think that so many businesses/people are struggling to stay open/spend and this place doesn't have a shortage of customers...So, instead of double dipping in your patrons pockets of sorts why not start accepting credit cards again??? I know credit cards charge a percentage and if that's the case let your prices reflect that...

Anywho, it was good while...
