Breakfast review. So much of what I see is food brought in from restaurant supplier. Now granted I have not tried many items, but a server even told me about some items I questioned on the menu. Doesn't mean the food is bad. If anything it's consistent. For example there is 2 choices of GFS sausage gravy available, and one is bland, while the other is much better than the homemade gravy many restaurants brag about. After just having an Irish Breakfast Shot the other day, I inquired if it was the same. "Yes, but we're out of Jamesons, so it's Makers Mark". Hmmm.
I've tried the biscuits & gravy, breakfast burrito, pancakes, and today the country fried steak. All are OK. Pancakes were a bit chewy from over mixing. The bacon is the best thing going. Lots and crispy. On each visit there was a good turnout. Not overwhelming to the staff or kitchen. Most are regulars that hollar out by name. That's a good reason for a pub to open it's doors early enough to serve breakfast.
All the tables are high tops since years ago when they had booths. Good luck to anyone in a wheelchair, looking up at everyone eating. A small stage for a single performer is at one end. A jukebox competes with all the TV's. This is a Cleveland Browns fan hangout. Ammenities include a rather large side room with regular height tables and another bar. Great for private parties. Moving on to the back is a large patio. Past the 6' privacy fence is a line of tall trees that looks better than concrete buildings. The street traffic is drowned out by the music or live band on the bandstand. A center island bar is surrounded by a sea of plastic resin patio furniture with distillery branded umbrellas for shade. All of this setting is adorned with a rooftop mannequin that peers over.
Alcohol and lunch or dinner menu is now on my radar. I noticed a daily lunch specials chalkboard on the way out. These items looked more along the lines...
Read moreThese past 3 reviews are from a past server or someone connected to that person and man the situation really is not that deep. Its a family bar with great regulars and customers who are family to us. That includes all employees. No owner hires someone to just fire them for fun later. They cut ties with workers if its not working out. Theres multiple reasons and we arent going to get into a fight over it in public on why the person was let go, thats just childish. Anyone who reads these reviews can come see us for themselves. I've worked at the bar for almost a decade as have many other servers and staff. We've had staff leave and comeback. Staff do not come back if its a bad work environment. I'm sorry it just did not work out for this server but it literally happens. The thing on pay is this: We give out tips from credit cards IN CASH to the server and then take the taxes from that out of the paycheck. So paychecks aren’t the usual $5/hr times the amount of hours you work. This server in question did not understand that. We have never withheld money from anyone. We kept tips from a server who left for SIX months in our safe and waited for them to come back and collect. We don’t short anyone. We really are a family bar and love our staff. We are sorry it didn’t workout with this person and others in the past. It’s what happens with staff and a business sometimes it just does not work out. Please come try us out and do not form an opinion from these bias reviews. I promise the bar...
Read moreFlanagans in Blacklick looks busy everytime we drive by so we thought we'd try it for the first time tonight (Sat night).
As expected, it's a comfortable corner bar. The staff were very friendly. Telling us their pizza is their specialty so we ordered three pizzas and a couple starters to go.
Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. The pizzas were all very dry. A shame since I ordered one with extra sauce but it wasn't prepared that way. The pizza is the typical Central Ohio round, thin cracker crust cut in squares with bland flavor. The toppings were near flavorless. All three pies were disappointing to my family. It was almost laughable how bad it was as our kids kept showing us how their slice was absent sauce and cheese and had a hollowed out unfresh crust. They kept asking if it was really pizza.
We had low expectations for the starters and weren't disappointed. The steak fries were undercooked with zero seasoning. The onion rings was also bland.
Our meal was definitely not worth the money as we ended up throwing much of the food in the trash. I doubt we'll return for a meal but I can see stopping by for a beer as the place does seem friendly. Unfortunately their food was a huge...
