Hello, fellow human friends! On 5/16, shortly before they closed, I stopped by and picked up a few jumbo slices on my way home from chasing white tail deer in the forest preserve, and man, I gotta tell ya, I was happy I did. I was apprehensive at first upon entering because I have a constant and pervasive fear of silver, and also they looked like they might be wrapping things up for the night, but the nice gentleman behind the counter greeted me warmly and asked how I could be helped. I ordered 2 sausage slices and 1 cheese to go. The cheese slice was well-seasoned, fragrant, and rich in flavor, as well as the sausage slices, which were aromatic and exploding with a luscious melody of a meat and herb blend. But what really brought it all together into a synergy of flavor was the sweet and savory pizza sauce and cracker thin dough, which was borderline crunchy but with a chewy firmness and also rigid enough to retain its form without drooping or sagging beneath its own weight when picked up deftly with 2 claws by the crust. Excellent slices.
Edit: Recently, I tried ordering for pickup on my way home from work about 45 minutes before they closed for the night and was told they were only doing delivery, which was strange because when I passed them up on Irving 20 minutes later there were still people inside waiting in line either picking up or placing their orders. Disappointed, I tried again a few days later. We decided to give some of their other menu selections a try, the results of which were upsetting.
Ordered for delivery, and it arrived an hour later, which is probably the longest wait time we've experienced from them, given that we live right down the street. The food was thankfully still hot. We ordered fries, breaded mushrooms, wings, mozzarella sticks, and a small Lonnie's special for my litter of demonic wolf beasts. The pizza was absolutely fantastic, as always. They seemed to have their pizza quality locked down because they hit the ball outta the park with them every time. The Lonnie's Special came with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Beautifully made pie, well-seasoned with toppings generously spread over. Excellent crust, which was doughy and had a bit of crunch.
The fries and wings were an enormous disappointment. The fries (which were so glossy they appeared to be wet) were so greasy and soggy that they broke apart and practically disintegrated immediately when you picked them up. Those were pretty gross, so we ended up tossing those out, which was money down the drain right there. The wings were incredibly salty, and there wasn't a single piece that didn't have a broken bone inside, whether it was a drum or flat, and so we had to be very wary and cautious when eating so as not to swallow a sharp, jagged, broken chicken bone, which could then also pierce the flesh inside our ghastly muzzles and neck tubes. The breading and meat were also suspiciously mushy, so the texture was quite unappealing and unappetizing, but with the sauce provided, they became ever so slightly more palatable than they were without them. Very unfortunate.
The breaded mushrooms were decent, but it was difficult finding a piece that didn't have the breading fall completely off when picked up. You'd pick one up, and the actual mushroom would plop out, leaving just the hollow breading on your fingers. The mozzarella sticks were ok, just lacking in symmetry and size uniformity, like one would be the size of a thumb and another the size of a pinky. Out of the 4 sides, the mozz sticks were probably the most decent.
Overall, we were left highly disappointed over the quality of the sides/appetizers and having had to waste money just to find out the hard way that they're between subpar and downright awful, with the sole exception being the pizza, of course. This has been a lesson learned, and in the future, we will only be purchasing their pizzas and the occasional Italian beef sandwich (which are also very good). With deep regret, I will also be removing a couple of stars from my review rating.

Read moreOne day someone in the family brought home Lonnies pizza and the 3 of us ate at different times throughout the evening. It was the first time for us. We each said something similar about the pizza later on not knowing what the other had said. "Man, that pizza was so incredibly delicious! That honestly was the best pizza I've ever had. Is there any more left?" were my words exactly! My adult son and boyfriend each came looking for more pizza saying pretty much the same thing and since then, we've gone nowhere else for pizza. When it comes to pizza, I actually CRAVE Lonnie's pizza and no other!! I crave the crispy thin crust, the flavorful sauce, the cut up pepperoni so plentiful and evenly spread across my pizza, the oregano sprinkles on top.... Oh my! I gotta get me one right now! And you should too! But just a warning...it will spoil your taste for any...
Read moreWe ordered a takeout pizza from Lonnie's. The Lonnie Special with pepperoni instead of sausage. We got home to discover a pizza with no pepperoni or sausage. It was clearly printed on the receipt "pepperoni". The pizza with only green peppers, onions, and mushrooms was completely tasteless. We had a few pieces and threw the rest away. What a waste of $21. People can say what they want about this place, but even Costco sells a much better tasting pizza at...
