I was looking for something different this past weekend for lunch and found this place online. I love good bbq and Caribbean food and the combination was intriguing. Now that at least some of the road construction is getting complicated it was easier to get to. Just a quick warning though it comes up quickly after a bend. We went on a hot Sunday afternoon and were surprised that we were the only guests at the time. We received a warm welcome and a brief story of the restaurant and the food. It is BYOB but the Jamaican limeade was very tasty. We ordered and we were treated to a sample of the sorrel. It was also tasty but to me the heavy spice would be better suited to cooler temperatures. We decided on the jerk chicken and brisket with coconut rice and fried plantains, and of course we had to try the namesake, roasted breadfruit. We weren't disappointed with anything. The brisket was generously smoked but still tender and juicy. The chicken leg was also very juicy with a crispy spiced skin. It came with a couple sauces and we specifically asked for the house hot sauce. All three packed a lot of flavor and I would recommend any or all. The breadfruit had a slight crisp and the inside was soft but firm and the spice blend absolutely made it. The fried plantains were very good and not too greasy. The coconut rice was also cooked very well and well balanced. Everything was prepared well, had distinct unique flavors that were in balance and complimented the ingredients and the other foods on the plate. We were told they are family recipes and you could tell. There was only one server, but he was polite, knowledgeable and brought some personality to his job. It was clear that liked the restaurant and did his job very well. If I had one complaint it would just be that the portions were fairly small for the price. And even then I'm not sure if we left more than a few grains of rice uneaten and didn't walk out hungry. I would absolutely go back and further explore the menu. I really hope that business is strong enough to keep it going. It is a great place and I wish it...
Read moreMy parents and I decided to come because we loved the old smokehouse that was here and wanted to try The Roasted Breadfruit to see how the food was. For being open only 4 months, they have done a phenomenal job and I can see them (and hope) theyâll be here for a long time!! Kathleen the owner and her family are so kind and sweet! They are always checking in to see how things are and are so wonderful, patient and just a bundle of joy that brings a smile to everyoneâs face! It is BYOB! After reading RAVING reviews we finally got around to eating there and they DID NOT disappoint!. The portions were super generous and worth the price! We had ALOT to take home because we were so full! The Bayfront Colada drink was so sweet, refreshing and delicious. I ordered the you chose 2 and got the brisket and pork. The brisket and pork were both so tender, flavorful, and filling! It came with two sides so I got the Mac and cheese and roasted garlic broccoli! The Mac was so creamy and filled with deliciousness! The roasted garlic broccoli was so good that I actually finished that first! Each bite was filled with garlic and so good! Best broccoli Iâve had. Everything on my plate was a 9.5/10 My dad got the quit jerking around sandwich and my dad said it was very juicy no fat and gave it a 9/10! My mom got the half rack of ribs and she said they were so tender they fell off the bone. 8/10! My mom gave the Bayfront colada and Mac and cheese a 10/10! We were so full we didnât get dessert but when we come back Iâll have to get dessert which Iâm sure will be so good! We will 100% be back. It is scan to pay which was great! I loved the reggae music that played too! Highly recommend coming and trying this delicious homemade...
Read moreCame for lunch on a Saturday. Tried the stuffed Mac and cheese balls and the chicken wings for the apps. I had the pulled pork sandwhich and my husband had the combo with ribs and brisket with candied carrots and green beans and coconut rice.
The Mac and cheese balls were huge. You get 2 of them. The macaroni still had a bite to it and was not over cooked. The outside was crispy. 8/10 only because I would have liked to see more meat on the inside.
The smoked chicken wings were nice and crispy and had a tasty dry rub on them. Itâs the entire wing so 3 pieces is really like 6. 9/10
The pulled pork was juicy and the jerk bbq sauce had a nice kick to it. Came with a side of seasoned fries that were also perfectly crispy. 9/10
The combo meal. The ribs and brisket both had a great Smokey flavor and the mango bbq sauce was sweet and tangy without being overwhelming. Coconut rice was delicious and the candied carrots and green beans had a nice char on them. 9/10
Dessert we tried the coconut crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. If you are a fan of classic crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e this dessert most likely wonât be for you. Top is nice and sugared, then there is a layer of coconut and then a layer of the custard at the bottom. Flavorful but strange. 6/10
All in all if you like BBQ come check it out. Fun music, attentive staff,...
