I was originally going to give 3 maybe 4 stars but as we were leaving it dropped down to 1.
My husband ordered the chicken cordon blue & for his 2 sides double mashed potatoes. The server told us they were out of mashed potatoes so he said he’s take the fries & a baked potato. He asked was he still going to be charged $1 upcharge for the potato to which she said yes. Which that’s crappy in it of itself but he said fine whatever. They brought him a baked potato with sour cream (mind you the menu said nothing of what comes on it not did the server asked what he wanted). He hates sour cream! The server apologized & offered to get him another. She came back & said the kitchen was now out of potatoes. Well 25 minutes later as we were leaving we saw the server delivering food to another table and get this, there was a baked potato on the tray! 😡
Now onto the food, husband’s chicken cordon blue had good flavor but was way over cooked and chewy. He didn’t even eat it! My burger was good and the fries were very good.
Server brings us the bill and what do you know the potato up charge is still on it! My husband walks toward the back where he finds another bartender/server & explains politely what happened. He came back to our table a couple minutes later & says he removed the potato & reduced the chicken by $3 & that’s the best he could do as there wasn’t even a manager on duty. My husband didn’t even eat it, he couldn’t!
But whatever we leave & I say we’ll still come back as I wanted to try their tomato bisque next time. But then we see as we are leaving they flat out lied about the potato!
Sorry Carriage House but I don’t want to try the soup that bad! We will never be back! That is absolutely horrible business!!! And we could’ve potentially been regulars up to 3 nights a week as our son swims very near by. But you can forget it. Figure out how to treat people and train your cooks how to not over cook something & then maybe you might be onto something. You should be ashamed...
Read moreI am absolutely blown away with this place. There are so many awesome things to say about The Carriage House that I don't know where to start... I'm going to just dive in! First, the location. The setting is gorgeous and absolutely screams WELCOME to our place. From the moment I stepped foot inside I was immediately covered in the warmest most welcome feeling. It didn't feel like a restaurant. It felt like exactly what it is, someone's former home that a new owner loves just as much. Speaking of the owner, what a privilege it was to meet him. He and his wife have done an outstanding job. You feel the love they have poured into this place. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the home and tells it in an attention keeping way. The staff! The amazing staff. What wonderfully happy people! And I mean happy, so happy they make you happy. Every single person I passed had the best attitude and smiled not because it was their job, but because they were happy to be there. Another compliment to the owners for properly training your staff. The food!! If you can ... Imagine sitting down to the memories of what your grandmother's Sunday meals tasted like. That's the best description I can give. I hope they get recognized for their fried chicken. It was delicious!!! Seasoned, breaded and fried to perfection. A must try! Tons of delicious desserts and ice creams. The house! You just have to experience it. If you are a history buff, this is your place! They have restored and revived the house. The decorations are beautiful and fun to just walk around and look at. This place is an experience I'd highly recommend! And it's budget friendly! They will be open for Thanksgiving and we're already planning our spot...
Read moreI'd been looking forward to a meal in this new restaurant in our area for about a month as we'd driven by it a few times shortly after it opened (about two months ago?) and had stopped in to peruse the menu back then. It's in a gorgeous, tree-lined location in what appears to be a 100+-year-old mansion converted into a restaurant. Although the restoration and conversion looks to be pretty well done, so were the main courses - well-done. I was disappointed. The chicken cordon bleue was over cooked, dry, and not good at all; the salmon was seared well and tasty but was also over cooked and tough. And even the pork tenderloin was dry. The worst problem was the 'ambience'. This establishment appears to be trying to cater to the sports bar crowd as well as the fine dining crowd. There are many large, flat-screen TVs in the bar area and out on the patio/deck/veranda that all appeared to be tuned to sports channels. This may have been a contributing factor to the noise produced from the table-for-six in the dining room the rest of us were in (three tables-for-four). These people were the loudest ones I've heard in decades - they were actually yelling at each other! There were no TVs in that dining room so they must have been trying to out-entertain each other. We frequently cold not even hear each other even when we cranked up our own four-part-'harmony' Sometimes the staff couldn't even hear us and yet the management seemed oblivious to the problem, even though it was obvious that the diners at the other two tables were nearly as disturbed as we were. The desserts we tried were good, but we won't...
