My husband and I were looking to splurge on a nice dinner, stumbled upon the magic oyster, and we’re sorry that we did. I don’t normally leave reviews, but this was easily the worst food and experience we have ever had at a restaurant. He went with the horseradish crusted grouper and I went with the tropical chicken. For starters, the heavy set lady greeting the door was not very friendly. She seemed inconvenienced that we wanted to sit on the patio. Our server, Fernando, was practically non-existent. He was there to take our order, drop off the food and then we didn’t see him until he delivered the bill. Had he asked how everything was, I would have been honest with him and told him it was terrible. But he didn’t care to ask. I think he could tell we weren’t happy but again, it didn’t seem to bother him. My chicken was clearly multiple days old, as the breading came soggy and with a funny taste. the chili sauce on top wasn’t very good either, it gave me heartburn which I never struggle with and I eat spicy foods regularly. The rice pilaf and broccoli was extremely bland and mushy. My husband’s grouper had fish bones in it. His side dishes were also bland and flavorless. They seem to serve either frozen or boxed side dishes, as nothing was fresh about our meal. We both felt sick that evening and the following day from this old, disgusting food. We expected more out of $30 plates. Our bill was nearly 70$, and I truly regret leaving the server a tip. We were going to order dessert but if it was anything like the dinner we would have been disappointed. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming to this place, as it seems many other customers had similar issues (especially fish bones in the food—it’s clear the staff doesn’t clean the fish thoroughly). Judging by the owners responses to these unhappy customers, he is as unbothered as the rest of the staff. They were very passive aggressive responses. Do yourself a favor and save your money, you would likely get better food and service from a place like Bob Evans, at a fraction of the cost. Highly...
Read moreI don't rate many places 5 stars but I think they deserve it despite a serious problem I had. First, the food. I had crab bisque and the grouper fingers. Grouper seems more like the chicken of the sea rather than tuna. Its a firm fish with a mild taste. They bread and deep fry them and they are not greasy. Waffle-cut potatoes and coleslaw come with. Everything was good including the coffee.
Now for my problem. I arrived around 5 and was told it was a 25 minute wait. Then I was told I could be seated outside so I did. At first I was the only one and I ordered. Another couple came and sat nearby. I started noticing I was getting bug bites from something too small to see. Then the other couple noticed too. I got my coffee & soup and they were great. Then the other couple complained and went inside. At first I told the waitress I was getting bit too, and I would only be getting the soup & coffee - that I could finish them because they were good. But then I told her to bring the rest of my order. Heck, I can take this for a while I thought. They did bring out heaters which helped but not for my shorts-clad legs under the table. Two more couples came and one also left after the wife realized she was on the menu. I ate some and then got the rest to go. And on the way out I informed a manager that people were not being warned. She thought everyone was being warned but I assured her I was not and others did not appear to be either. Anyway, this made for a great memory because the food and staff were so good. I plan to return when I can sit inside. But I will wear long pants and carry some Off, just...
Read moreWe wanted to love this place, but unfortunately didnt. First of all we got there at 3 pm because, online it said it opened at 3. They do not clarify that they only serve happy hour apps/drinks for 3-4 pm then at 4 you can order dinner. So we had a few appetizers, but they are very small. Bam bam shrimp was good , fish cakes were good ,but mozzarella stick are FROZEN, they just dress them up The drinks are very pricey 8.50 for a Hawaiian red neck, comparable to a rum runner, husband had a Moscow mule 8.75 and a martini for 11.00. I got the horse radish encrusted grouper, doesn't have a horseradish taste, but it was amazing! Totally loved it my husband had the pistachio seared swordfish, bad after taste and my husband had to cut off the skin , and daughter had the bourbon glazed salmon the bourbon didn't come through at all. Also another thing is they have way to many menus. My husband really wanted to try the different oysters, but after having to wait, not offered oyster menu we were over it. Our servers were really nice on the up side ! But I honestly won't go back. Maybe I'll try prawn brokers next I know they own that as well. I really wanted to like this , The decor is so cute as.well! ! Also your sat in bar have to pay out before you can move to a booth of choice. I'm just not a...
