The last time I was there, we went for the 1/2 price pizza special on a Saturday. I was with my sister and parents. The place was VERY busy and finding a place to sit was difficult. We ordered the pizza and my father and I split a Combination (beef/sausage) sandwich with SWEET peppers. The pizza was pretty good. I would have said it was exceptional, but there just wasn't enough sauce on it and the garlic was on top of the cheese-NOT under...BUT, to each his own.
The sandwich had HOT peppers on it, which my father couldn't handle. We sent it back and it came back pretty quick. Once he bit into it, it was obvious all the kitchen did was scrape off the peppers. All of the oil was still on it and his mouth started on fire. Funny if it's your friend and you're playing a prank...not so funny though when it's your 70+ year old father with a history of a heart condition.
The waitress took it away and they made us another sandwich, That took the kitchen about 30 minutes, but it was pretty busy and they had to remake it. Still, I feel that was a little long. When the sandwich finally arrived, we were all pretty much ready to leave. I was still hungry, but I was also tired. My father was completely waterlogued, from trying to wash the fire out of his mouth. Because I've been here a number of times and this was my worst dining experience there, I feel 4 stars may be a bit high, but 3 stars would be an insult to the friendly staff and the food.
Someone else commented earlier about the Cheese Bread. I've had the Cheese Bread...which is pretty much pizza with sauce on the side and really good!
They also have all kinds of different thigs going on there. Of course every sporting event you can think of is showing, but they have attractions like "Pint Sized Brawlers", Volleyball, bands playing for various fundraisers (local person with huge medical bills was one I went to). Overall, don't expect Halftimes (a,k,a, 1/2X) to be top notch. Nobody there is going to cater to your every whim. It is a towny bar and everyone there seems to everyone else. For the most part, patrons and staff are overly friendly-even if they look a little rough. Plus, if you spill something on the floor...it's...
Read moreWe went for dinner on Saturday February 22, 2020. To our surprise we were charged a service fee for using our Debit Card. We have been having dinner there with my family at least twice a week as we love the food. However, no warning or notice was posted on this new fee. Our server did not even tell us about this new fee upon our arrival. We found out when she ran my card and the fee appeared. She still did not mention anything until I got her attention and asked what the fee was for. She, our server explained it was a new policy and she had been getting many complaints that evening. However, it would have been nice to have the option of paying cash. We will not be returning as I feel like we were ripped off and there was no regard to notifying customers. Any time a fee is charged for using your card, there is a posting of the change. Also, the servers should be trained to let customers know upon arrival that there is a fee if using a credit card. Not everyone that goes there is local. Very disappointing!! We like to support our local businesses. However, this one we will not be supporting! Let me be clear it isn't the fee as many business are choosing this option. It is the lack of communication to...
Read moreI go to halftimes often, but I will not be back after last night. They need to get a process together when it comes to checking IDs. I went out for a 23rd birthday drink and because my license is out of state and bent they called it fake and told me they wouldn’t serve me. As a bartender I know you have to be diligent because that’s your job on the line. However, they took out the book to compare my ID too and asked to see my debit card to compare the names. They could have scanned it but she told me that her kid’s fake IDs scan (weird thing to admit that you know your kids have fake IDs when you’re a bartender) and they also could have put a flash light on it and it would have had every marking because it is real. Again, I understand diligence, but I am offended your staff thought I was dumb enough to use a bent out of state ID that says its my 23rd birthday when I am well aware I don’t look 21.(Also it was a Tuesday, who does that?) And can proudly say I never had a fake unlike your children. I would not be writing if I wasn’t informed that it is common for them to take out of state IDs if you look young and have had multiple friends had to call the nonemergency number to get...
