Tried for first time today. The donuts are just ok. I got a chocolate covered Bavarian cream donut and it had sooo much cream in it that it was messy. The taste was just ok. I should have tried their regular donut to compare to other places.
The pretzels however are to die for! My husband and I go to an apple festival in OH every year and our favorite treat is a soft homemade pretzel. These taste exactly like the ones in OH but bigger and slightly cheaper. It just melts in your mouth and is oh so delicious. It’s nice to know that I can get them whenever I visit TN and don’t have to wait for the once a year festival to get my pretzel fix.
The staff was very friendly and was working hard to get through the line. My only suggestion would be to have one person taking orders and maybe someone putting the orders together and have the customer stand off to the side. Seems counterintuitive to have the same person taking orders and gathering orders.
Overall great experience and will be back! Thank you for sharing...
Read moreHonestly, I was extremely disappointed. I had heard so much about them and was told I had to make a special trip just to try it. Well, I dont know if I just hit it on an off day or something, but it was so bad I couldnt even finish it. I got a maple frosted donut (which isnt their specialty so I suppose I should go back and try the original before I knock the place) but the maple was so saccharine it about put your teeth on edge to eat it. And the donut itself was not good. You know how fried food get when it gets cold - like limp bread and congealed butter. The donut had no springiness or flavor it tasted like dough drowned in butter. ... no I realize that a lot of people love this place and I'm probably going to get lampooned for this review, but it was my honest experience. Because so many people love Auntie Ruth's I'm determined to give them a second chance. Hopefully, itll be better when its hot/fresh and not doused in inedible maple glaze. I'll update this review if I...
Read moreYou can't beat these pretzels and doughnuts, and I don't even like doughnuts!! These make me a believer for a day! We went during non-peak hours during the week and there was no line. BUT, the locals we were visiting report that there can be a 1-2 hour line on the weekends, so I would suggest avoiding weekend visits if at all possible. But, I'm telling you a 2 hour wait would be worth it for what you're getting. Everything melts in your mouth, definitely prepare to bring extras home, freeze the goodies, whatever you need to do, bring extra home!! Pretzel dog, cinnamon sugar pretzel, doughnuts, ALL were a...
