We went in mid afternoon, it was a cute small town bar, very clean on the inside, (my sister said that the bathroom “very clean and spacious”). They serve bar food. I got craft beer cheese dip with pretzel bites. They were 10/10. I had some fries and dipped them in the left over dip and that was also super good. I also got bone in wings with pops hot sauce. They were very spicy (I’m also very sensitive to spicy things) but delicious. Also 10/10. They have many different sauces for wings and I tried my sisters wings (she got garlic parmesan) and they were amazing. It’s a better choice if you don’t like spicy wings. There was only one waitress but she was very nice, and her lashes were on point. Her name was Megan. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re gonna be in the area. Don’t expect super fast food tho, it’s definitely nice if you want to chill and if you’re not in a hurry. But the food was so good it was worth the wait. There is a small fee if you use credit, so if you don’t want to pay that make sure to bring some cash. (It was super small it only added a dollar...
Read moreFood here is average for a bar. Chicken tenders were fresh, hot and tasty. Burger was overcooked and under seasoned. Their fries are not very good. Soggy, not seasoned. Onion rings were decent. The inside of the place reeks of cigarette smoke. I asked the waitress if smoking was allowed in the building and she flatly lied right to my face by saying no. Come on, don’t insult my intelligence when it is clearly cigarette smoke I’m smelling. The law is there is to be no smoking in enclosed public places, especially those serving food. Grade rating is a middle C. I won’t come back here unless I absolutely have to.
**Reply to Owner: Hello, Tom. Thank you for the response, although yours is not unlike that of any purveyor whose establishment has received a critical review. Meeting up is definitely an option, when is a good time for you? I can very easily get my hands on a smoke residue test kit. That way you can flex some of that confidence under the infallible scrutiny of science, and we can plainly see what exactly is a lie and...
Read moreWow, what a great update. I hadn't been to EJ's in a couple of years. Popp's place is such a great upgrade. Gone is the dark bar motif and a brighter more cheery Popp's has been the result. They have worked hard on the menu and offerings. Ej's had good food for bar food but, nothing really special. Popp's has wonderful food. We are not in Merrill often but, Popp's is a new star in the Merrill area. You won't be disapointed. 15 April 23. Shaved ribeye sammie is to die for. Tender beef, homemade roll, large slivers of onion and pepper. Then the house queso, yumm. I would add sliced mushrooms for another layer of texture and flavor. Excellent...
