I have been wanting to try this place every time we go to Junction , we'll finally we went yesterday and I was so disappointed, I love brisket 💜 In the parking lot a couple were leaving and I asked how was it since it was my first time here . The husband said it was okay but the brisket was way to salty. So we go in and I order the brisket plate, chopped brisket, potatoe salad, Mac and cheese. My son got the brisket sandwich, boyfriend got the brisket sandwich and a side of potato salad. And we each got a regular drink. Price over 60.00 - okay thats fine right .. we'll as well were paying a older man came up to the line and had complaining that the brisket was to salty and the staff were like we told your wife she could have something different. Not sure what happened as I paid and went to sit down . The potato salad was great . Mac and cheese no flavor at all . And the brisket very salty and I like salt on my food . With the BBQ sauce to cover the salty taste I was able to eat it . My boyfriend could not eat his though and after a few bites he said he was done . For 12.99 I was like ugh no - I go to the register and tell the gym that my BF doesn't like the brisket it's just to salty . He tells me .. oh your just saying that because you heard that other customer say that . I was shocked that he said that . I told him that a man in the parking lot had told me that also . He then said we'll what do you want then extremely rude. My boyfriend wanted the sausage instead. I asked the guy if he wanted me to throw away the brisket in front of him so he could see that we were not trying to get free food and he just ignored me . So that was my first and last time to...
Read moreOk, glad I'm not the only one here. The brisket was way too tough and hard to chew. What a disappointment. And you get a tiny side for over 3 dollars and it tasted like the way fast food is prepared. At least with fastfood you get a bigger portion for the price. The people were nice but not very helpful. There was a disconnect. And there were no rolls or cornbread. And just soda fountain that I could see. You would expect a better variety of drinks at a place like this. What is the point of this whole setup if the food isn't good? And the plastic utensils- are you kidding me? My fork busted and the knife couldn't cut some of the meat. Everything else looked dried out. I figured a place like this would at least have good brisket. It would have been helpful to have the jaw of a sasquatch to chew this meat. To spend all that money for this - never again. Guess I paid for atmosphere. It's back to McDonald's, better portions, better in many ways.
Response to country hillbilly prideful excuse. I certainly hope you're not the only choice I have in 2 years. I would need acid to soak the meat in. You do not compare to other Texas barbecues. So now you tell me you have sweet tea? What is it, 10 dollars for small cup? Didn't know I had to walk around to see what you have before standing in line. And don't give me excuses about inflation. I know plenty of privately owned businesses who have been in business for over 40 years and they don't gouge...
Read moreThe reason why I only gave the food a 3 star rating is bcuz the first sandwiches that we had on our way UP to Abilene were absolutely scrumpdilly-ishous!! My wife got sliced brisket, and I got a sliced turkey one. However, on the way back home from Abilene, I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich for both of us bcuz she told me that hers was REALLY good, and I wanted some variety. The guy who got her sandwich on the first visit didn't ask me whether she wanted her brisket lean or not, but she had zero complaints about it.
The guy who got our sandwiches on the return trip DID ask me that. I should've trusted my gut instincts and just ordered 2 lean sandwiches, but he said that a half & half cut might be more flavorful, and I fell for that hook, line and sinker!!!
Both of us were quite disgusted by the amount of fat in each of our sandwiches!! In my opinion, it added ZERO flavor to the sandwich, and yet it didn't even add any moisture to the meat at all bcuz it was really dry and tough to chew through it. We both ended up spitting about half of our sandwiches into some paper towels and throwing it in the trash when we were done!! So, lesson learned very well for the future - ALWAYS order the LEAN brisket at Cooper's BBQ if you don't want to throw half of your sandwich in the trash, and they aren't exactly on the cheap side...
