THIS PLACE IS A DISGUSTING JOKE AND RIPOFF!

*UPDATE AT BOTTOM

We got an app of onion rings and I got burnt ends dinner with fries and beans. Wife got pulled pork with coleslaw and mac n cheese.

Everything was super bland and like cafeteria food.

The beans were clearly just opened from a can.

The burnt ends were not burnt ends. It was baked brisket smothered in their lame bland sauce. It was literally dryer than my beef jerky snack the previous night.

The pulled pork was not pulled pork. It was baked ham chopped up and smothered in their lame bland sauce. Disgusting. My wife boxed it up for the dogs.

All the sides needed salt and flavor.

They don’t have lemonade and we got zero refills the entire meal on our waters.

The only items my entire family enjoyed were the onion rings and slices of white bread.

We boxed our “burnt ends” and “pulled pork” to bring home to the dogs.

I have no clue what people are leaving these high reviews. This is by far the most pathetic attempt at bbq I’ve ever had. It’s the only place I hated so much I felt obliged to leave an honest scathing review.

They are blatantly lying what they are serving you and even so, it’s horrible.

How is this place still open? We will definitely never go back.

Avoid this place at all costs.

UPDATE: I called and asked them how they make their burn ends and pulled pork. He confirmed the pork is ham and when I told him chopped up ham isn’t pulled pork he said, it’s pork ya it is I put some pieces of fat in it.

Then I asked if they char the ends of the brisket for burnt ends and he said no. He said if he did that no one would eat them. I asked him why literally every other bbq place I’ve had burnt ends at they are charred and full of smoky flavor and he said that just a name for the end cut of the brisket! What a scam? They aren’t charred burnt ends bc I don’t think they even actually smoked them. They are baked.

They know they are lying to you what they serve and I say they didn’t even smoke my meat and it was Probabaly leftover from days prior. It was literally so dry it made me think of the turkey they eat on Griswald family Xmas.

The people giving high reviews here should not be trusted.

This is the only place I’ve ever given a review for on google and it’s because it was such a gross ripoff.

Also they serve everything on styrofoam plates and all the sides are storebought.

It was straight up cafeteria food not smoked dry and covered in some horrible thin sauce to try and cover it up.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU EXPECT KC BBQ OR GOOD FOOD. IT LITERALLY MADE US FEEL SICK JIST FROM THE FEW BITES. I NEVER GIVE REVIEWS BUT FEEL COMPELLED TO HERE IN ORDER TO HELP PEOPLE...

DON'T EAT HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND HEALTH!

If I could leave a 0/5 star rating I would. Not only was the food old and just sitting in a warming tray, but everything tastes like everything else. The sweet tea tasted like pickles, the Dr. Pibb tasted like cola, and the glasses and tables were dirty. my partner couldn't even tell the difference between the pulled pork and the burnt beef ends (which it wasn't even burnt ends it was just shredded beef with some liquid smoke and BBQ sauce, in both the pork and the beef). The best thing here was the onion rings. We came out from Oregon and were the unfortunate recipients of the WORST BBQ IN KANSAS, or even the US. I didn't even get down the road past the shell gas station/Xpress mart before I puked my guts out. Being someone that has worked in food most of my younger years, I know, for a fact, that the food was either yesterday's, or it was left out too long or something. You don't get sick that fast without something being SERIOUSLY wrong. The price was 40 and some change for 2 plates and an appetizer with drinks. It was terrible for the cash even if it didn't make you sick. DO NOT DINE HERE. send the health inspector or something. There is something terribly wrong. We should have just left. Even took 20 mins to get out take out boxes, they had no other customers and had three...

They have great portions, but all of the meat has no rub or smoke flavor at all. I have eaten at roughly 70%-80% of the BBQ restaurants in KC (I love BBQ) and wanted to try Big Q because I had not been there, I was disappointed.

I ordered a two meat sandwich with beans and a side rib. The beef was moist and tender, but there was no smoke flavor. The pork was grey (I thought it was the beef initially) and it also had no smoke ring or rub flavor in it. The rib was solid, tender and a lot of meat on it, but again, not much smoke flavor and no rub. The beans tasted good, but they tasted like they had come from a can and had some spices and beef added. I tried to doctor the meat with the sauce, but the sauce had no flavor either, tasted like runny ketchup.

I hate leaving terrible reviews, but if you like Joes KC, Jack Stack, etc you will likely not have a good experience here. If you are driving by here and want bbq, drive a mile or so and go to Woodyard.

Maybe I had a bad experience, there are other good reviews out there, but I'm not willing to try going back. The service was great and the place was clean, I just did not enjoy the food. They were almost empty at 12pm as well, 4 other people were in the restaurant over a 20...

With one notable exception on the southern county line, Wyandotte County consistently hosts some of the worst barbeque joints in the greater KC barbeplex. Big Q Barbeque absolutely blows that stereotype to bits and pieces. I dropped by for lunch and had a simple brisket sandwich, fries, and a soda pop. The sandwich was overwhelmingly generous in size. Perfectly smoked and as tender as one could hope. I’m eager to get back and sample other meats. If Big Q can do ribs and burnt ends as well as their brisket, this place is going to be a star. Maybe I missed a cue on one of the several menus posted around the restaurant, but I wish there was a lunch special. The brisket sandwich, ala carte fries, and soda… and tip (this should be a strict counter-serve set up) ran $15. Even considering the generous portion, that’s just too much for a very casual, minimal service barbeque joint. I’m not quibbling about value, I’m recommending an budget-minded option. All that aside, I’ll be back up to the Dot soon and familiarize myself with more of Big Que’s fare.

Stopped in to see a nearly empty restaurant. When seeing that I immediately begin to question going but we love our barbecue so we said we would give it shot. Have to say I was not disappointed at all. The burnt ends original sauce wasn’t great but the sweet sauce they gave me to try with it put them over the top. They were tender and fell apart just like they should. Sweet potato fries were a little over cooked but still good. The pulled pork was amazing but next time I would ask them to not drown the meat in sauce. Onion rings were good, and the corn nuggets were tasty. The service was over the top professional and will be going back for sure. Would like to see some juice options for the kids.
