Matney Park — Attraction in Castle Rock

A nice walking park. Has a nice long path around the perimeter with a cut through in the middle that leads to the remnants of a basketball court and baseball field. I say remnants because the basketball court is destroyed in every way except the actual hoops which still stand strong the ground is cracked badly with flora coming up through the cracks. The baseball field is only a baseball field in the sense you can see where the pitcher would have been everything else is gone. It would be great if they at least fixed up the basketball court. Great for kids of all ages- love the shade! Has water fountain and “book shop” - smaller kids playground is somewhat separated from the older kids area. Has great slides and awesome “playhouse” like a ship with a pole that slides down in middle . Merry go round, swings, awesome slides of all kinds, plenty of shaded benches, has basketball court, recycling area to drop off your recycled trash, sand box with sculptures and one with with play construction area built...

August 15, 2021, my son was murdered here, at Matney Park. The park has hours, but there is no gate preventing anyone coming in after hours. The parking area is not lit, so you can't tell who's there. The park is across from Go Chicken Go and next to Junction Elementary School, in Kansas City, KS. I do not recommend this park.
