Heard good things about the place and been meaning to try it for awhile. I'll say this: They have Sushi Rolls that are made to appeal to a more American style which some ppl may not like; this includes a lot of different sauces that are generally used to mask the taste of the Fish / Seaweed, so if you are looking for a sort of traditional Japanese Sushi then this isn't it. The Sushi is creatively designed and lots of Sauces and Avocado in things; I'm not actually holding that against it. I know this is Missouri and getting very Fresh Fish is tough so that's why I give this a very fair and average rating of 3 stars; It's a decent option if you are looking for a Roll that is more about the Sauces and other ingredients rather than the Fish/Rice/Seaweed. The Fish isn't super Fresh or Anything and I don't think it's very high Grade either (hence why all the rolls have so much sauce) but they make due with what they have. I probably won't Eat the Sushi here again but I can understand why people like it and if you are looking for Sushi that is really designed for this particular area then I would say This is probably one of the best places in the Area. Especially if you are new to Sushi, I think this is a great place for new comers to try and get a feel for it.
Overall it's a 3/5, it's decent, creative and highly Americanized. The Fish didn't look or taste super fresh but honestly almost no Sushi Restaurants in Missouri have very fresh fish, they are all almost always the same sort of grade. You aren't going to any of these because they have fresher ingredients but rather you really enjoy the other things like the Sauce(s) or the Cream Cheese/Avocado that become the Star of most of these Rolls, which I'm not holding that against any of the Sushi places because they gotta make money and appeal to ppl. If you are in the Area and looking for some Rolls that are maybe a little different or maybe you tried Sushi before and still don't know what you like, this is a good spot because it's going to make things a little easier to like but if you are a DIE HARD Sushi Go'r / Traditionalist (or mildly Traditional) then this would be challenging to get behind. This style is very popular though and it revolves around not really tasting the fish so it has to be judged against all others in the Area that do that imo and overall they are all very similar, this one just happens to have Sauces that are a little more creative than some of the other Restaurants and I think that's the...
Read moreI hate to be one of those people but if i could give this place -10 stars i would. My coworkers and i order from this place multiple times a week because its close and convenient for us to order chinese and sushi but they consistantly get our order wrong. They either make the order wrong or they only deliver 2/4 items ordered. Everytime they mess up an order we have to call and everytime this happens the older asian woman who works the front desk answers and is EXTREMELY rude. Not only that but we know when the restaurant opens so we always call on the dot to make sure it doesn't take long to get our lunch but it always take close to 2 hours to get our food.Today was the last time we will ever order from them. Due to the covid-19 virus we wanted to make sure to support local food business so we made our usual order, it yet again took way over an hour to be delivered, even when we called first thing in the morning. When the food was finally delivered, we got no receipt and we usually pre pay with a card + tip. Sure enough one of the meals was missing. We then called to let them know and of course the rude woman answered. The woman stated they would re send the food but they were going to re charge us but remove the delivery fee of $2.00... after we already paid for the initial meal.... I asked for a manager (which i can hear speaking right next to her) and she says "The manager isnt here and idk when he'll be back". We are fed up with rude behavior and constant mess ups. Never ordering from here again, very...
Read moreWas told that the sushi was fresh and made by a "5-star" chef. That alone should have made me just hang up the phone but I ordered anyway.
I don't like to be critical but it was really really bad. The refrigerated sushi you get at the grocery store is less expensive and tastes better. Spicy tuna roll was more like bland mush wrapped in day old rice. I don't recommend.
Updated and Upgraded from 2/5 to 3/5:
I tried this again a little over a year later. My mind isn't changed on the spicy tuna roll -- there is NO FLAVOR and a big glob of previously frozen tuna in the middle. The spicy mayo can't even save it. I left three rolls there and didn't finish. I have never had a worse spicy tuna roll in my life. Absolutely sad.
I will say that I would give the other two rolls I had a better score. The Bonsai roll was decent and I can't remember the second roll I had but it was alright as well. I would come back for a select few rolls and the fact that it's 2 minutes from my house definitely helps. I guess my biggest qualm is the price for the quality and taste. I don't know if I can spend $10-13 a roll for something that just doesn't live up to some others I have had and some even cheaper and tasting better. Also -- it took 30 minutes to get my food while I sat at the bar.
I do want to say that the sushi chef that made my rolls was kind and very courteous. She even gave me an appetizer of peppered tuna slices that was good...
