China Star — Restaurant in Kansas City

When I asked the lady to show me the difference between the sizes, she pulled out two containers that were the same. I ordered the small, and after I opened it, they rip you off by giving disproportionate amounts. It was about a spoonful of food.

There was no flavor, and one order had a strong odor of some chemical. There were only two small shrimp in my shrimp and veggies, but there's no shortage of rice to make it look full.

Two guys came in about ten minutes apart (didn't know each other), and walked straight to the back to begin having a conversation with the cook. No washed hands or anything. They seemed to be workers of the city. It's fine to be friendly, I'm glad they are, but that's not healthy.

The woman acted like she hated life until they came in. Suddenly she appeared to have a soul. I assume they're regulars, so the dollar signs come before customer service.

I made a poor judgement by stopping here because it was close, but in the future I'll add the extra ten minutes for somewhere I trust (there's a place next to Jamaican Gs that's decent on Troost, or a place further down on Troost called China Feast, not Friendship--better service, food, portions, and price). Most of these places have bad attitudes anyway, but the food needs to at least be worth...

Just tried to online order from this place, and i waited for a while maybe an hour or more, and since there was no sign of delivery yet i called them to check up on my delivery status (of the order to see how long it would take) and they replied with "SORRY WHAT?" and hung up on me. The second attempt my boyfriend called them and they responded that they did not have any delivery drivers today and our food could not be delivered. Highly upset. I was going to pay cash and didnt pay with my card, but i think the service here needs a little work. They could have atleast told me an hour ago when i placed the order that it couldnt...

We arrived at China star at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. Right away we noticed they had an abysmal selection. Most of the food looked dried up and like it had been sitting there for hours while many other pans on the steamers sat empty for our entire visit. When we did grab what few dishes were left (a serving of breaded chicken and some hard shrimp dish) we discovered it was luke warm to cold. The attention to food quality was simply not here. The only positive here was the service , which was fast and polite. Unfortunately that will not have us coming back. Skip this place if you don't want to overpay for very very...
