First Time Trying This Place!

We ordered:

Shrimp and catfish combo 2 orders of catfish strips Chicken tenders Fried okra Fried mushrooms

When the food arrived, it was cold. I believe this had more to do with the weather than the restaurant itself. That said, everything was well-seasoned, and I especially enjoyed the fried mushrooms and okra.

Unfortunately, I did get food poisoning after eating some of the catfish, okra, and mushrooms. Additionally, the fish in the shrimp and catfish combo was not catfish—it tasted more like perch or another type of fish, which was disappointing.

Because of the food poisoning and our dissatisfaction with the combo, we couldn’t eat the chicken tenders or the second order of catfish strips. Altogether, about $30 worth of food went to waste, which was disappointing since we spent around $60 in total. Since we don’t have a fish and chicken restaurant like this in our area, we were excited to try it, so this experience was a letdown.

I can’t speak to the physical location or customer service, as we used a delivery service. We were coming from out of town on a business trip as well(if that matters).I do hope this was a one-time issue. If not, I strongly encourage the restaurant to prioritize cleanliness and quality control to ensure customers don’t have similar experiences.

Recommendations for future customers: We may or may not come back into town in the future whether for pleasure or business, if we do, at this time as unfortunate as it is,I don’t think this will be a restaurant we eat at for a second time unless reviews change for the better and feedback is given.

Pay attention to reviews before ordering. This might be a place where going into the store to pick up your food is a better option, as you can ensure it’s fresh and assess the appearance, cleanliness, and overall vibe of the restaurant. Made an online order yesterday . Get there to pick up order and was informed they didn’t have the cake I ordered. Was told by the guy with the locs to call the company and let them know to refund me the amount for the cake. That didn’t make sense to me with no proof from them to tell the online company to refund the money. He then got an attitude stating he didn’t have time for this and don’t have to deal with this and walked away. I told him he didn’t have to deal with it. Another gentleman came to the front and completed the necessary steps to refund me the amount for the cake. The guy with the locs was disrespectful and wanted to pass an unnecessary hassle over to me when the other guy took care of the refund right on the spot. You will not catch me in that place ever again. Our chicken was cold and dry so was the fish we ordered was bland and over cooked. Was there a few weeks ago same order and the food was good so not sure what the inconsistency in taste. My mom picked that order up and also had issues with the guy with the locs. All she wanted to do is add an additional side of Mac and cheese to the order for a total of 3 sides and he wasn’t comprehending. Again another guy comes to the front and finishes that order. I don’t know what is up with the guy with the locs but he is severely lacking in his customer...

I stopped eating here when I ordered 30 pieces dark and 10 of them were rotten. I reversed my decision and noticed they had redecorated. I had a good meal. Went again and a young lady was saying they didn't give her 10 shrimp like she ordered. They gave her the box she opened it and counted out 8 shrimp by hand. The cook then took his gloved hand and confirmed 8 by touching and handling the same food the customer had. She got the "extra" 2 and left in a huff. I gave my order number and asked the cook to change gloves because they both touched the same food and who knows where her hands have been? He ducked out of my line of vision. The cashier went back then to returned too fast to report that he had changed his gloves. It takes longer to swap gloves than that. Plus, it felt like a lie and the cook really did run and hide instead of just abiding by food handlers safety procedures. They are nasty up there and are certain to cause someone to get ill because of said nastiness. Disrespectful, dishonest, dirty staff won't see my business again. Beware of this business.

I've since learned that there is a video of the same cook picking out toejam as he prepares your food. That's beyond disgusting and extremely unsanitary. To hell with this revolting...
