Price Rite is a real gem of the KC Northland. They are a great market and deli located on Waukomis in the Northland, south of Zona Rosa, and after much debate and consideration, I have come to the conclusion that they have the BEST pizza in the Northland.
On the south side of the property, they have a sign that says "Authentic NY Style Pizza" and I, as a Philadelphia native who has spent considerable time in New Jersey & New York, will CONFIRM their claim of having Authentic NY/East Coast Style Pizza.
What makes a pizza authentically NY or East Coast? Their pizza comes in 1 size, a large 16'' pie cut in 8 large slices. The pizza is a flatbread, but is very soft and able to fold in half and not a soft/crunchy flatbread. The crust however is soft, fluffy, and not flat. They use the right cheese to sauce ratio, and both their cheese and sauces are very tasty/high quality. Very high quality toppings, their pepperonis are large, over-sized almost. Delicious stuff.
On Fridays and Saturdays, you can get a large two-topping 16'' pizza for $9.50 after tax. With how large the pizza is, you get 8 slices, and the QUALITY of the pizza...THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA DEAL IN KANSAS CITY. $9.50 for a Price Rite pizza on a FRIDAY or SATURDAY is actually fairly ridiculous. If you want a pizza on Friday or Saturday, and live within 20 minutes of Price Rite...you should be getting your Friday and Saturday pizzas from Price Rite. $9.50 for a two topping pie, especially with how good the pizza is? Absurd.
They have other specials during the week, and I really want to try their sandwiches, just trying to find the time. But I love eating pizza on the weekend, and this is absolutely the go to place for Friday/Saturday pizzas.
Great location. Phenomenal product. AND....a staff that has always been friendly, welcoming, and appreciative of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is a Northland treasure. They have a special on Wednesdays where you can get a hot ham and cheese, a bag of chips, and a drink for $10. Best $10 Iāve ever spent on food in my life. Iāve come to this store before for their amazing meatball sub, but today I felt like trying something new. Best decision Iāve made in months. The sandwich was big enough to be filling but still reasonable for a normal person to eat. Hereās a couple words to describe this sandwich; euphoric, delightful, absolutely delicious. This sandwich has brought more joy into my afternoon than anything has in months. The sandwich is so full I had to eat it upside down to prevent it from falling apart in my hands. The bun was perfect, light and airy, but substantive enough to be holdable and filling, and it absorbed so much of the delightful nectar of the ham. Speaking of the ham, this stuff is incredible. Literally dripping with juice and flavor. Itās so flavorful I am having trouble conjuring the words to speak about it. The cheese was melted and warm, salty yet subtle, a perfect compliment to the ham. And the sauce, mild yet with enough flavor to pop, it brings it all together. This sandwich was like a masterful symphony of flavor, a veritable performance for my taste buds. When I got this sandwich, I was kinda hungry, and now, Iām not. I could easily eat ten more of these things. And it was $10. And it came with chips and a drink. I can think of so much food I paid $10 for that was both way less food and way worse. I didnāt think to take a picture of the sandwich because I didnāt expect that this sandwich would solicit these emotions from me. God Bless this store, and God Bless the hands that made this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHidden jewel in the Northland. This is a locally owned and operated Italian Deli/Grocery run by a family with a long, long history in Kansas City. Can't believe I've waited so long to explore this little store. When I was a kid growing up here, I remember it used to be a bait shop once upon a time. I drive by all the time and note that the parking lot is always full. Doesn't that suggest something to you? It means folks are beating a path to this place. They must be going there for a reason right? Well, now I know the answer. It's a legit Italian Deli. I regret I have but one face hole or I would have tried more of their grub. I did try a slice of their pizza and one of their garlic knots. Fantastic! Some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. And they have pastas, deli meats, pre-made dinners, take and bakes, on and on. Now all that being said, it'd be enough to get you to visit, right? Well, it gets better. The folks there are so friendly and welcoming. You're probably going to visit specifically for the deli, but if you also need some grocery items, they have a surprising selection of goods for such a small place. Produce out front looked better quality than what I'm used to at the big chain groceries.... May have found my spot for the upcoming peak tomato season. Just be aware that the word is out. Like I said, the parking lot's full much of the time. You may have to wait your turn. But worth it! I love supporting local businesses. You should send some love their way too. Gonna try an Italian...
