Union CoffeeCafe — Restaurant in Kasson

My wife, son, and I stopped here on a Saturday, early afternoon. We had a gift card, so decided to give this new place a shot.

The burgers and chicken sandwich we ordered were really good. I would consider take-out from here, but I probably would not dine in again.

We walked in, unaware it is a counter-service style establishment. There was no hostess to tell us that, and only found out after being seated for several minutes. Menus were finally brought, and we ordered from the counter.

No beverages were offered to us when we ordered, and we had to get our own water. The water dispenser/silverware station is right where people were bunching up at the entrance.

Our food finally arrived, and it was really good. However, no one came to check on us. After the food was dropped off, not 1 employee even acknowledged we were there.

The atmosphere is nice, very clean and cozy. The bathrooms are really nice as well.

They have a fireplace, but it is not a real fireplace, just a video display. Not sure if it pumps out heat or not, but the digital flames take away from the ambience.

Tables were clean, but I watched a waitress wipe all the crumbs off a table onto the floor.

Union Coffee Café is such a gem in the quaint town of Dodge Center! I stopped in for coffee and breakfast while getting some work done and was immediately impressed by the cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Ordering is simple—you place your order at the register, where a menu board behind the counter lists their coffee options. I was delighted to see they offer chai lattes, one of my favorites! Unfortunately, I arrived just after 11 AM and missed out on their breakfast menu, which includes sandwiches, omelets, and fresh-baked goods. But on the bright side, they also offer great lunch options!

The dine-in area is warm and welcoming, with large windows that let in beautiful natural light. There’s also a fireplace on the other side of the café, adding to the cozy ambiance. The staff brings your food and drinks to your table, making for a relaxed experience.

Pro-The place is very well put together appearance wise. The staff there were very kind and helpful. Con-The food was absolutely terrible. My friends bread was so burnt on the inside it was completely black and hard.The burger I got was extremely sloppy and tasted like a fast food greesy wet bun burger. The coffee tasted like water. If you've ever had a sonic burger or a what-a-burger burger that's what the burger was like. If you goto one of those places that's what you expect, but walking in to the restaurant and seeing how amazing it was then eating that food is a no go for me. I was super excited because it was very close to my house. I may give it another try to see if maybe the breakfast is better. I definitely won't be going back anytime soon. Also the food was expensive for such low quality, I just expected it to be presented better and taste better...
