Best shaved ice I had on Kauai! The syrups were just perfect, not cloyingly sweet and you can taste the actual fruits flavors it’s suppose to be. The fruit bits and coconut cream on top is the perfect add on. We got ours with ice cream and in the souvenir bowls and loved it . The price may be higher than other places but you can taste the quality, and they’re worth every penny. The service was great! All smiles and without us asking they put in an extra spoon and straw into each bowl seeing that we had two little kids with us. That attention to their customers means they notice and they care. I would be here daily if our hotel was closer and my waistline could afford it.

During a recent trip to Kauai we tried several shave ice vendors. Waikomo unfortunately did not stand out. Smoothness is crucial to a good shave ice, and theirs was not super smooth. Their flavors taste great, mainly because they are all natural syrups. But these types of syrups tend to lay on top of the ice rather than soak through, leaving the entire dessert watered down. Finally, the price was higher than any other stand, but the amount given was medium-sized at best. Don’t get me wrong: Waikomo is good shave ice with fresh-tasting flavors, and it is very popular on the South Shore. But it didn’t show well compared to others. Check out my other reviews for comparison.

Friendly team who helped us with our passion fruit and guava shave ice + Mac nut ice cream. It was topped off with a little diced pineapple and (coconut?) cream. Outside, ice was crunchy while inside, it was very smooth and soft. I found it easier to scoop from the inside outward. Mac nut ice cream was actual nuts at the bottom. (Nut allergy warning) Plenty for 2 people to share a single, regular order. Flavors are lovely and fresh, not too sweet and very enjoyable. Located in the far back right corner of the parking lot. Seating along the stone wall of the market. Parking can get a little limited with the market and burrito shop and others.

Seriously the best shave ice ever!! This place changed my life. I didn't even like shave ice until I sampled some that my wife got from Loco Coco. The owner makes all the flavorings from fresh fruit and then tops it with chunks of fruit, honey and coconut cream. We came back to this place every day after our first time here during our vacation and had it with ice cream. The owner is super friendly and even gave us a discount on our last day to help ease the pain we felt knowing that we won't be able to eat here every day anymore. I could go on and on about how incredible this place is but your time would be better spent going to Loco Coco and experiencing it yourself rather than reading more...

I read about this place in a magazine so was really excited to try it. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. We got two shaved ices - one was fine, but the other (lychee and blood orange) turned into soup by the time I’d walked to the car. I only got 3 bites of the ice cream I’d paid $1.50 extra for before it completely melted. I went back to ask for a refund and they were very nice and gave me a free shave ice. The woman explained that some syrups are too thin and if they put too much it causes the ice to melt quicker. Unfortunately the same thing happened with the replacement - basically it was flavored water and I had to dump it on the side of the road. Be wary of choosing...
