Dinner and a view 😍 got the John Wayne Colossal burger #monumentvalley #theviewrestaurant

The View Hotel Restaurant has one thing going for it: the view. It’s absolutely jaw-dropping—sunset over Monument Valley from your table is something you’ll remember forever. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We had both dinner and breakfast here, and both confirmed that this is not a place you come for the food or the service. Dinner: I ordered the “Navajo burger,” which came overcooked, dry, and served on what they call a “fluffy tortilla”—more like a pita pretending to be fry bread. Not even close to what a proper Navajo burger should be. My wife ordered the grilled cheese, which honestly looked and tasted like something out of a cafeteria: plain white bread with unmelted, flavorless slices of cheese. The side of “seasonal veggies” was a sad little cup of frozen-then-thawed carrot, cauliflower, and broccoli, topped off with a tiny butter packet. She chose that option only because vegetarian dishes were almost nonexistent. To their credit, our server adjusted the price when we pointed out it looked like a kid’s menu item. But at the register, another staff member defended the adult pricing by explaining that unlike the kids’ menu, the adult version allows you to choose white rice as a side. (The kids’ menu only allows fries or veggies.) Apparently, not being able to select rice is what justifies a $6 markup. Must be some really gourmet rice. Also during dinner: Need a menu? Go get one yourself. Want hot sauce? All the bottles were empty. Ask a question? Staff will tell you to wait for your server—even if it’s been 35 minutes. When you do get someone’s attention, expect them to pass the buck rather than help. Breakfast: We returned for the included continental breakfast the next morning. It confirmed everything from the night before. The hot dish options were fatty turkey sausages, dry scrambled eggs, and potatoes that might once have been fresh. The food is barely passable and clearly the lowest possible grade. The overall vibe is that this place survives purely because it’s the only restaurant inside the park. And sure, it’ll keep you alive—but that’s about it. Bottom line: Stunning view, disappointing everything else. Bring your own food or eat before you arrive. I rarely take the time to write negative reviews, but this one earned it. A message to the staff: customers matter.

Not too many dining options in the area. Since we stayed at the hotel, we took advantage of the free morning breakfast. It’s a very basic continental breakfast. Some of us brought our own packaged tuna, mustard/ Mayo to make egg salad, and our own coffee packets. The coffee served is very watery and the hot water dispenser spits out a lot of coffee grinds. The dinner is sub par and pricey for what you get. Our party said the chili was pretty decent. The chicken salad was sub par and the few chicken slices looked like French fries slivers. A few people in the party asked for salmon as well as other patrons but they were out. My fried chicken was over cooked and the meat was dry. I asked for broccoli as my sides and the server said it comes pre mixed. Unfortunately the mixed veggies was frozen mixed cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots but veggie scoop didn’t have any broccoli. I told the server and they said they would need to ask the manager to go talk to the kitchen. They did come out with a tiny portion of broccoli and it was quite mushy / over cooked and bland. None of our food was served hot. Since we only had 1 other dinner option nearby, we decided to eat here and lower expectations.

I don't really write reviews, but in this case I just had to.

We were a party of 3 and ordered the fried chicken, the mutton stew, and grande nachos.

Positive things first: the view is awesome, but no better than anywhere else on the site.

Now to the negative: If you aren't a guest of the hotel or the cabins, you won't be seated after 7p.m., you'll have to order the "take out" which is the same exact food, but without being allowed into the actual restaurant.

-When ordering the "take out" you'll just get a receipt for your order and the comment "come back in 20 minutes and we'll see if your order is done" while other guess, that stay in the hotel or cabins get a buzzer which tells them when their order is ready.

-Food:

@Soup: a completely mushy paste that seemed to have been boiling for hours; tasted bland

@Salad: first of all : tiny plates, and you're only allowed one serving, but a nice selection of different types of greens, toppings and dressings, jet all the salads seemed store bought; tasted ok

@Fried Chicken: came with mashed potatoes that tasted absolutely horrible and had the consistency of elmar's glue, the person who made this has probably never seen, or tasted potatoes before... The chicken itself was moist and quite tasteful, were it not for the huge amount of fat and gristle. The vegetables that also came with it were completely tasteless! (16$)

@Mutton Stew: doesn't deserves the name! It was a bland, tasteless broth with maybe 10 little pieces of fatty meat. The vegetables that were in this soup were also tasteless and boiled so long that no crunch whatsoever was left. It came with a few slices of the homemade brad that were ok. This meal was listed as a Navajo speciality... I cannot recommend it (14$)

@Grande Nachos: Nachos, cheese, beans... nothing homemade, everything store bought... Nothing to screw up. Probably the best meal we had. (10$)

Conclusion: It's bad! Just don't go there. It may be the only restaurant on site but you're better off just getting a gas station hot dog somewhere... Bring...

We had booked a nice expensive room at "The View" hotel. After a long day of exploring and visiting, we went to the restaurant for dinner. While my wife went to get a table, I quickly went to the restrooms. She waited minutes in front of the lady that was there (no line) before her presence was even acknowledged. Then the lady asked my wife if she had the key to our room. Why would she need to ask that, we still don't know. The lady sat her at the worst table available and my wife directly asked if we could be seated at a better table. She refused. That is when I arrived in the dinning room. When I saw that there were much better tables available by the windows, I asked the lady if we could sit there. She said no and didn't even talk to me. What happened next was beyond my understanding: she went back to the entrance and called the couple that was there and sat them exactly at the table I asked. I called her up and asked why she treated us this way. I felt she just didn't like us. She told me she didn't have a choice and said we should talk to her manager. The Manager was simply rude: he laughed at us and said we already sat at another table. We felt insulted and left. This was simply the worst service we ever received in any restaurant ever. I feel sorry for the other staff in the lobby. Conclusion: we went out and had dinner in a restaurant close by. Yelp people, AVOID THIS PLACE...
