China King — Restaurant in Kenansville

Little Wings and I decided to go visit her mother in Kenansville NC. While there we felt like a tast of Chinese food. This place is the only one in town unfortunately. Little Wings had mentioned that she had gone some time before with her mom, said the food was pretty good but the guy at the register was kind of rude. Obviously I felt everyone has a bad day and that may have been his. Okay then.... So we went down and came through the door, went to the register and were greeted by one of the rudested gentleman I think in a food service business I think I've ever met. With NO smile, grumpy attitude and very short regarding your order. I tried to show him what we wanted and instead of taking the order he handed me a pen and insisted that I circle what we wanted or he couldn't take the order, again.... Very grouchy and abrupt but took payment as expected. So we did. As we waited I asked with a large order for three people if we could get 10 duck sauce, 10 hot mustard, and 10 soy sauce to go along with our three large meals, egg rolls and Hot and Sour soup. He did not respond. After waiting about 15 minutes which I felt was fair for a walk in oder he called for us to pick up up our order. We did, I asked if we were given the right amount of sauces(10 each) that we asked for. He immediately raised his voice and said no, I gave you 6 only of each. I asked if we could get the extra 4 each as requested, with a very nasty attitude "I gave you what I feel you need for the meals you ordered". I then explained calmly that we like to use extra for egg rolls and dinner and mentioned that we would like the extra 4 each, even more so since I just paid right at $60.00 for the order. AGAIN, he said no to extras did not offer with the option to to buy the others. HIS COMPLETE ATTITUDE FROM BEGINNING TO END WAS TERRIBLE. I sure he realizes he the guy in town and if you want Chinese it's his place or none locally. I responded that he was about to loose a customer over the sauces and his nasty and rude customer service. HE THEN SAID HE DIDN'T CARE AND WE COULD LEAVE NOW. Honestly, if you are in Keaningsville NC and want Chinese I would personally recommend STAY AWAY. There is another about 15 minutes further away and we stopped when leaving town and the attitude and service is much better.IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A ZERO STAR THEY WOULD GET IT. Okay so my mom and I get there at 11:00 and buffet started at 10:30. We walk inside the man behind counter nods at us to go in the buffet area, that’s it, nothing else. We walk there and the waiter looks at us and says nothing. I’m like two sweet teas?! Bc I’m like geez no speaking at all?? And he didn’t come to the table he just stood by drink marching and then put tea on the table while we went to the buffet. Food was fresh. Rice, teriyaki chicken, chicken and broccoli were in need of some seasonings. So bland. Lo Mein was on point though. Egg drop and wonton soup was good. Egg rolls would be better if they were fresh but I just scooped the insides out and ate the outside. Donuts fresh and tasty. The seafood stuff was good, bourbon chicken lacked the flavor it needed for the name so did the beef and mushroom. I went back for a second plate since new rice was brought out thinking maybe this will be better, I was so wrong it was a little crunchy and needed help with some flavor. Chicken wings are yellow like most Chinese places which is weird IMO, but lacked the normal flavor. So I just taste elf things and ended up filling up with the egg roll wrappers, soups, and lo mein. When we were done, I went to pay and the man looked at me behind the counter I smiled and said two buffets and two teas, he rang me up, lady comes from back and I spoke hey how are you and Nothing, no hey no total just grabbed my card and handed me receipt. I signed it and smiled and said have a great day. My mom was like dang they are too rude for having that tasteless food. I’m like well it’s okay. So if you don’t want to be bothered at all go here. If you want a bland diet go here. If you are sick don’t worry your taste buds are fine it’s just the food. This place used to be one of my go to’s in Kenansville, and I hate it’s come to this. I will go back just to order the Lo Mein off the menu to go it...

BEWARE EATING HERE. I WAS THERE AND after seating down with a plate I WATCH THE COOK(WHICH I later found out is the Dad) wipe his nose with his hand and continue to touch everything and went to back to fix food without washing his hands at all. I was kind enough to tell the son in private and choose not to eat but they felt the need to cause a scene because I choose not to eat and was going leave. They called the cops and demanded I pay for that untouched plate. It escalated and I never will support this business again. I STRONGLY suggest if you observe anything that not healthy and may violate health code, even cold food to report them to Environmental Health in Kenansville and don't be afraid to call them out on their bull, record and take...
