Went back for my second visit and had the Mary's meatball sandwich. OMG! Tons of flavors! Herbs, spices, they are 100% homemade, the marinara sauces is fresh and tasty, goes perfect with the mozzarella cheese and the sub bread was fresh as well. The entire sandwich was SPOT on!
Also tried their new homemade lemon pepper sauce for their wings. I love lemon pepper but every time I order its usually just melted butter with processes garlic or fresh cut - its' just nasty. But Bar North Chef has nail it! I won't tell you his recipe but that the lemon flavor is real lemon juice and a few other tricks. The wings are big and juicy too, not those pigeon wings you sometimes get. And they are cooked perfect, crunchy outside while the meat is moist. Go try them!
Love this place. Great location. Great menu and great service and great people. Wish I had a local bar like this near my neighborhood.
Went on a soft opening night. Everything I ordered was delicious. The wings were cooked perfect crispy skin and still tender inside. They were huge too! I ordered them naked with their hot and hot garlic sauces both were very tasty, there are homemade sauces!
Then I had the Feta Cheese dip! OMG!!! Love it. Lots of garlic and other herbs and spices, went really well with the pita bread. Even if you don't like Feta try this, its worth it.
Then Mary's meatballs! Another OMG! They couldn't tell me the meat mix but I'm guess there is veal in there somewhere. Other spices and herbs along with the tomato based sauce made them absolutely perfect, obviously homemade. They were so delicious I got another order to take home.
Then I tried the 3 meat chili! Amazing, the flavors are very unique, pops in your mouth and the meats are really chunky, no skimping here on meat. Delicious and the chips with a spicy salt go really well with it! Bravo!
The service was with a smile, everyone was working hard, paying close attention to customers needs, keeping drinks full and taking orders...
I met the 2 of the three owners, very nice in, the 3rd owner was in the kitchen cooking. :) Maybe I can meet him some day when...
Read moreSummary - Above average food, involved manager, but rude, threatening and degrading "entertainment)
First time in with friends from out of town and they wanted to play trivia. We were quickly sat and got our drink orders.
Prices were high for bar food, but it's in front of a large neighborhood that can command higher prices. I approached the trivia host and immediately asked how his day was, his reply, " I don't care, what's your team name. " No one was waiting behind me. I gave our name as " Team Name " and he said it was inappropriate and to choose again.
Went back to the team, we decided on another name that involved a decimal point. I went back to the trivia host and said, "Does new team name meet the requirements? "
I guess this was a breaking point as he immediately raised his voice, cursed at me, told me he would not be disrespected and that we needed to leave. I tried to get a word in, apologize if my words had upset him, and try to call him down. He only got louder. A server walked over and tried to get him to calm down but he began getting disrespectful to her. Finally, the owner came over and his behavior did not improve. I asked the owner if we could play or not (first thing I'd said in a couple minutes) and the host kept talking over the manager.
We were allowed to play and I even offered to the host that I wouldn't bring up any answers so that there would be no issues. I was cursed at again and went back to my table.
Our waitress came over, apologized (knowing her tip was on the line) and made a comment that he's known for doing this and driving people away. After she left, the owner came over to apologize further and made a similar statement that "he's been off for a couple weeks now".
Food came out and was better than average bar food and justified the higher menu prices.
I will not return however due to the dangerous outside "entertainment" brought in that is allowed to disrespect, threaten and...
Read moreThis is a review only for this particular visit. I’m sure there may be better encounters/reviews in the future and this wasn’t all bad I just couldn’t give it more stars, yet. I ordered 16 wings and a bowl of chili, $35 before tip. My order was Togo which I think is the important part of the score because I’m not able to rectify what I want for this meal in house. I order the wings extra crispy, they came out perfectly cooked for that. I asked for mild/lemon pepper mix. I got nothing. There’s no flavor, no sauce in the box or pooling of sauce below the wings, and no seasoning. These wings are so plain it’s painful. I know they would have been able to do something had I been there but since I’m not it ruins the whole thing. Their sauce is like a Texas Pete, Buffalo wing sauce expectations, I have learned, are not universal. And maybe this is part of the “northern menu” aspect of their food? I’m not sure. As for the chili, it has an interesting flavor/smell I can’t quite put my finger on. Like beer maybe, I doubt that but can’t tell what it is?? There’s a little heat, which I love for chili that makes up for that one flavor I can’t pin. I like that it comes with chips. Just, the funds didn’t lead to the satisfying, lunch at home experience...
