For my boyfriends birthday I decided to take him to Elevation Chophouse and Skybar, and we both loved the place! This restaurant is located in Cobb County International Airport, and you can watch planes take off and land which is a very cool experience.
I thought one of the coolest thing they have is their liquid nitrogen cocktails. The cocktails are prepared table side so we got to experience the whole process. We both ordered margaritas and they were yummy!
For food we both ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Manicotti: ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella cheese, lobster tomato mornay sauce topped with basil, and served with asparagus. The Manicotti was SO creamy and cheesy. We literally devoured it.
Service was excellent. From the hostess on the phone dealing with my reservation and making sure we got the seats I wanted, to our amazing server.
The place is nice too. They have two bars: one upstairs, and one downstairs. Only complain I have is the bathrooms. There's literally two bathrooms (one upstairs, and one downstairs) but this are single toilets. The night we visited it was crowded so I waited about 10 min in line to use the bathroom. Not cool.
Read moreWow. I'm actually impressed at how bad this place was. If this is a 4.3 star restaurant, then Google star ratings are utterly meaningless.
I'll start with the good: it was cool to see the little planes landing and taking off! I could see this being a fun outing for a small child - or in our case, our 90 year old dad - with a strong stomach and an undiscerning palate.
Our server was darling - very warm and polite. Little things like not having small plates for the appetizer course, never being offered a water refill, etc I can overlook and chalk up to inexperience and potentially being understaffed.
The bad:
This was overall the worst meal I've ever eaten in my entire life.
I've had meals out where a single item was flawed in some way - undercooked or under-seasoned, for instance. This was different and special. Nearly everything - from the cocktail my husband ordered, to the appetizers, to the entrees - actively tasted BAD and WRONG. Like someone mixed up the recipe, or perhaps individual ingredients had spoiled.
In the bartender's defense, my husband did order the most disgusting sounding cocktail on the menu (The Aviator's Delight). The thing was somehow bitter, coco-nutty, and saccharinely sweet all at once. The flavor lingered on my tongue for minutes despite multiple gulps of water. I could smell it on his breath for the entire meal. Is this a real, intentional flavor combination? Or did someone accidentally mistake the Windex for Blue Cat rum?
The spinach artichoke dip was at least edible. It was served with under-salted tortilla chips.
The cheese sticks... where is my puke emoji. This one must have been a mix up, or maybe expired breadcrumbs, or spoiled cheese? Utterly gag-inducing. I took one bite and it took all my willpower not to spit it out. The marinara they were served with was decent!
I ordered green beans and potatoes au gratin for my main since their vegetarian options are lacking, to say the least. My husband ordered the "Key Lime" Caesar. We are still scratching our heads about what made it key lime. The green beans were flaccid, un-salted, and slimy, and the au gratin was a total gut bomb - again severely under-seasoned.
We didn't venture to try dessert.
We might be back one day for a Pellegrino and a Sprite once our daughter is old enough to appreciate the airplanes, but otherwise - this is one we will...

Even though we’d missed our reservation (traveling!) by a little bit, the staff looked about and put us at a lovely table right on the flight line. The options for the prix fixe were plentiful, and we got started when Abby attended promptly to our luncheon. The crab bisque was smooth and sublime, and the Caesar on heart of Romaine was just the right size and flavor. Great idea, compared to a big wedge or toss!
Abby let us enjoy the appetizers (and drinks!) for a perfect bit of time, and then took our steak frites orders for the win. I’ve spent a good bit of time in France and Europe, and I say without hesitation that the chefs at Elevation cook the best in memory! Thin, red meat slice’s done perfectly, and the frites were gloriously firm on the outside, and soft on the inside. Abby would check in unobtrusively, and we enjoyed an excellent time that seemed to have no sense of ending as we watched planes come and go. Pretty soon we were by ourselves in the main dining area, and Abby and the team let us enjoy the solitude and ambiance.
Abby brought us a kind and sweet douceur, a completely unexpected treat to finish off our wonderful Valentine’s Day. Elevation is all about making memories around food and the view, and they have again succeeded!
And we managed to make the mimosa and Bloody Mary last! Parfait!
……….. Previously at Elevation: A perfect night with friends….. Everything facilitated a celebratory dinner with friends who were leaving our neighborhood for new adventures closer to family. We were seated promptly, and Alexis took over. She let us chat for several minutes, and was alert and ready when we signaled time to order. She fielded several questions about our order, and then the fun began. Salad and drinks showed up quickly while we continued story-telling. Then the main courses arrived, all perfectly prepared and fresh from the stoves. Our friends had never visited, and commented on both the promptness of the delivery, and the flavors and aromas. My wife’s steak fritte was perfectly cooked, and my pork chop was the size of a turkey drumstick, instead of a lollipop! The best part was desert: we shared crème brûlée and the cheesecake, both...
