I've heard a lot about this place. Being from NYC it made sense to go and try it. I gotta say for being in KY, this pizza is as close as a NYC slice as you're going to get. Heck, there are places in NYC that no longer get it right. This slice has the foldability of a NYC slice and crispy but not burnt bottom. Apparently they order their dough from NJ, that's the key ingredient and it works. If you're in the area and not ordering from these guys, I don't know what to tell you, other than straighten yourself out. Stop ordering from the chains and get a pie to take home. The cheese and sauce flavor isn't exactly like home, but that's a preference thing. Everything else is on the money and well worth it. It's worth taking note and ordering from here if you're local- take it from me an actual NYer who eats NYC style pizza regularly. 5:5 stars
On to the service, the woman who served me was very polite and attentive, but the man in the kitchen who overheard our conversation seemed very annoyed by the conversation. It's okay, maybe he was having a bad day. Who knows, but word to the wise, customers take note of how their presence is taken. Silence and stares that look like disdain don't go over well with visitors or customers. Again I'm not local and I didn't stay long, and I've since returned home; I'd probably return to order again, but if I felt like I wasn't welcomed I'd stop doing business here even if the slice reminded me of home. Don't let that stop you from ordering though, that slice is good. 4:5 stars
Atmosphere, it had classic booth arrangements for a pizza place and tons of posters and items referring to NYC, including an old poster of the Twin Towers pre 9/11. It's odd to see the towers anywhere post 9/11 and while most people from outside of NYC don't have a connection to them, as a NYer who was near when it happened it's still triggering 20 years since. Then there were the DiMaggio posters and other things. Right on track for pizzeria...
Read moreFraschelli's features deli style fare and pizza. They're locally owned and operated, and better than the franchise places. They've been in business for years and attract many regular customers.
Hours are limited, they're open only Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 3:00pm and 8:00am to 7:00pm Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Fairly good selection and OK quality sandwiches with a few side dishes available. New York style pizza, burgers and breakfast also offered.
No table service, order at the counter. Prompt, courteous and friendly staff. Modest prices. Credit and debit cards accepted. Carry out available.
Facility is fairly large, can accommodate groups. Adequate free parking and handicapped accessable.
Decor and atmosphere plain and functional. I recently stopped by for a late lunch after the rush. They weren't busy and it was quiet except for the televisions, which I found intrusive.
Fairly well maintained but looks a little worn, especially the restroom.
Considering their limited hours and limited restaurant choices in the vicinity, this venue is OK but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here often. That said, I do recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood and looking for something better than "fast food".
I would rate four stars if open evenings and weekends.
Please mark me "thumbs up" icon if this...
Read moreWe are fairly new to the area and this was our first time eating Frascelli's. I called and ordered for pickup. My mother got a gyro & fries, my husband got a sausage/pepper/onion sub, and I got the baked ziti. The guy who took my order seemed nice while I was ordering. However my husband picked up the order and said when the guy asked for a name, my husband replied with it should be under Richie or Amanda. He said the guy chuckled and said, "Oh yea, I remember that order." My husband was a bit confused by his remark and when he got back home he asked if I had any trouble ordering over the phone? I didnt think there was an issue when I ordered. Perhaps the gentleman thought I was humorous in some wat? Not really sure how to take that. The food was good overall. My mother said the gyro & fries were average. My husband said the sub was average as well. I will say that my baked ziti was excellent. And I would definitely order it again. There are several things on their menu I would...
