My brother, his girlfriend and I were looking to eat somewhere down here that we hadn't been before. Our extended family have an annual trip to Marathon every year and we were able to come this year; it had been about 12 years since we could make the trip. My brother got an ad for this place on his phone so we decided to check it out. When we first arrived, we spoke to a member of the staff, and told him we had never been before. He took the time to go over the whole menu with us, make suggestions, and let us know if there was anything they were low on/out of (we showed up late into the day). We ordered our food; I got the BBQ pork pizza, my brother got the smoked chicken and smoked pork butt, and his girlfriend got the philly cheesesteak. We got our food pretty quickly, about 10-15 minutes after ordering. The smoked meats were fantastic, nice and tender. The pizza and cheesesteak were awesome as well, cooked to perfection. All the food was so good we had to try each other's food and it all was incredible. To top it off was their guava BBQ sauce, which had a really nice sweetness to it with a subtle kick to really make the flavor pop. I liked the sauce so much I bought a bottle of it to take back home with me. Afterwards we ordered the churros with ice cream and they had the perfect amount of crisp and flakiness to them.

But it wasn't the food alone that made this experience so memorable. The staff checked on us consistently, and really seemed to care about not only the food being to our liking, but the atmosphere, and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. My brother and I played a couple of games of cornhole with some guys staying at the hotel in the same location and had a blast. One of the staff members would even come by and watch the game momentarily and help translate for us (our opponents' first language was Spanish and they only knew a little English) to help explain the rules and keep score.

I won't ever forget eating here. The food, the atmosphere, the awesome staff, all of these things came together for one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. Every time I am back down here (we're from TN), I will make it a point to pay these...

Being from Texas I'm always on the lookout for good BBQ. Decided to try Lick It BBQ on the way back from Key West because of the pictures we saw online and they didnt do this place justice. Their setup is amazing. Plenty of covered outdoor seating with an ocean view. We ate lunch but I bet the sunset views are incredible. Its a bit tough to spot off the highway, so i reccomend using google maps so you dont miss it. We tried the brisket, smoked fried pork belly, tostones, maduros, pinapple slaw, yucca fries and my son had a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was great! Crisp crust with plenty of toppings. The smoked fried pork belly was different than any pork belly ive had before. Didnt wow me but was very tasty with the sauce they were tossed in. Sides were all pretty good. Pineapple slaw was outstanding. Working on replicating it at home. The yucca fries and maduros were ok, as were the tostones. The green sauce that came with the tostones was delicious! I was a bit let down by the brisket though. In Texas we judge a place by its brisket and this just fell a bit short. It was tender but a tad dry and lacked the flavorful crust from the rub that im used to. However their delicious Guava BBQ sauce came to the rescue and made it edible. The Guava BBQ sauce was one of my favorite bites from our entire trip. They dont sell it by the bottle but they should. Overall, great spot, great view, great set up, staff was friendly and accomodating. The food is reasonably priced. If you're traveling through the keys and desire some BBQ or pizza this is a great spot to stop and enjoy...
