What a great place for lunch and/or cocktails. The view and the grounds are simply stunning at this iconic golf course. We were told the Ryder Cup bar at the Ocean Course Clubhouse was a must do for lunch. That advice is spot on! We sat on the porch and had a very relaxing and tasty lunch...and enjoyed every minute. The food - crispy shrimp and fish tacos- was very good and perfect sized for lunch. We also two glasses of wine, and while a little pricey the pours were good so no issues. The service was great from the moment we walked in the front door. The hostess was super friendly and welcomed us as if we were regulars, as was the service from our waitress. AAll in all a great day at the Ryder Cup bar for lunch. We can’t wait to go back already!

It was a very special 55th birthday and an impromptu dinner on the island. We were visiting Charleston and wanted to find a place that was beautiful to dine. Google searched and found the Ocean Room. So we drove a long ride, to get there and find out we needed to have made reservations. Well they had this as an alternative and since we had already driven like an hour, we stayed. The staff treated us with respect which I was told was rare being that we are African American. We didn't get what we came for but it was great food nonetheless and a very special attendant but I forgot his name.

We were very disappointed with the experience we had at the Ryder Cup Lounge on Sunday, December 5th, around 3 pm. We have lived in the area for many years and we enjoy drinking and dining at the Ryder Cup Lounge at least once every other month or so. This past Sunday, however, we found the lounge in filthy and, honestly, smelly condition. Although only about 1/3 of the tables were occupied, another 1/3 were covered in dirty dishes that clearly had not be bussed for a long time. While the other 1/3 of the tables were empty, we were told by the hostess that there would be a short, 15-20 minute wait before we could be assigned a table. The hostess seemed much more interested in dismissing us so that she could begin on the plate of food she had in front of her at the hostess stand. Fine, we ordered drinks from the bartender and sat outside the pro shop. The bartender, while not openly hostile, was curt, abrupt, and ungracious. While ordering and picking up our drinks, we were thoroughly disgusted by the loud, profane groups of men in the lounge. The staff made no effort at all to address the unruly behavior. When we settled outside after picking up our drinks other customers were also remarking on the deplorable condition of the dining room and the obnoxious behavior of the gentlemen groups. After almost an hour (which should have given her plenty of time to finish her plate of food), the hostess still had not called us; most of the tables remained either empty or cluttered with dirty...

We visited the island in December and the food and service was pretty good. I was excited to go back with friends who have been familiar with the island for more than 30 years. We were originally told it would be a 40 minute wait which we were totally fine with. Within 5 minutes we got called and that the table was ready. We were taken outside all the way to the end of the seating area and seated at a table with dirty stained chairs right next to the door where food was coming out of the kitchen. The mosquitos were unbearable. No amount of bug spray could have prepared us for that meal. The food took a very long time to come and when it finally did come we boxed it up to leave and eat it at home. The simple things that could have been done for guest enjoyment such as citronella candles or torches weren’t used. When we complained we were offered bug spray which shows it’s been an ongoing problem and the restaurant just didn’t care enough to warn guests or provide alternatives. $600 for a casual meal with friends is totally ridiculous when it was miserable. Furthermore the food was mediocre at best. Totally...

We were so excited to visit the Ryder Cup Bar and enjoy a family meal on a beautiful ocean front course. To our dismay we were seated inside at a table that was full of crumbs. I watched the working staff eating oranges and food while hearing their conversations and loud laughter. I wish we had sat outside. While eating his orange, touching limes with his hands to put on our diet cokes. Definitely not the classy establishment we expected. I also found the staff to be curt and borderline rude. The food however was good. Just wasn’t comfortable eating inside as we’re pretty much the only ones aside from the workers loud conversations. We then went to purchase some items in the shop, at which a rude gentlemen rang us up at higher prices then ticketed and said they forgot to change the price, never apologizing and was incredibly rude. I could not ever recommend Ryder Cup bar and can understand why they...
