We were very disappointed with the experience we had at the Ryder Cup Lounge on Sunday, December 5th, around 3 pm. We have lived in the area for many years and we enjoy drinking and dining at the Ryder Cup Lounge at least once every other month or so. This past Sunday, however, we found the lounge in filthy and, honestly, smelly condition. Although only about 1/3 of the tables were occupied, another 1/3 were covered in dirty dishes that clearly had not be bussed for a long time. While the other 1/3 of the tables were empty, we were told by the hostess that there would be a short, 15-20 minute wait before we could be assigned a table. The hostess seemed much more interested in dismissing us so that she could begin on the plate of food she had in front of her at the hostess stand. Fine, we ordered drinks from the bartender and sat outside the pro shop. The bartender, while not openly hostile, was curt, abrupt, and ungracious. While ordering and picking up our drinks, we were thoroughly disgusted by the loud, profane groups of men in the lounge. The staff made no effort at all to address the unruly behavior. When we settled outside after picking up our drinks other customers were also remarking on the deplorable condition of the dining room and the obnoxious behavior of the gentlemen groups. After almost an hour (which should have given her plenty of time to finish her plate of food), the hostess still had not called us; most of the tables remained either empty or cluttered with dirty...
Read moreWe visited the island in December and the food and service was pretty good. I was excited to go back with friends who have been familiar with the island for more than 30 years. We were originally told it would be a 40 minute wait which we were totally fine with. Within 5 minutes we got called and that the table was ready. We were taken outside all the way to the end of the seating area and seated at a table with dirty stained chairs right next to the door where food was coming out of the kitchen. The mosquitos were unbearable. No amount of bug spray could have prepared us for that meal. The food took a very long time to come and when it finally did come we boxed it up to leave and eat it at home. The simple things that could have been done for guest enjoyment such as citronella candles or torches weren’t used. When we complained we were offered bug spray which shows it’s been an ongoing problem and the restaurant just didn’t care enough to warn guests or provide alternatives. $600 for a casual meal with friends is totally ridiculous when it was miserable. Furthermore the food was mediocre at best. Totally...
Read moreWe were so excited to visit the Ryder Cup Bar and enjoy a family meal on a beautiful ocean front course. To our dismay we were seated inside at a table that was full of crumbs. I watched the working staff eating oranges and food while hearing their conversations and loud laughter. I wish we had sat outside. While eating his orange, touching limes with his hands to put on our diet cokes. Definitely not the classy establishment we expected. I also found the staff to be curt and borderline rude. The food however was good. Just wasn’t comfortable eating inside as we’re pretty much the only ones aside from the workers loud conversations. We then went to purchase some items in the shop, at which a rude gentlemen rang us up at higher prices then ticketed and said they forgot to change the price, never apologizing and was incredibly rude. I could not ever recommend Ryder Cup bar and can understand why they...
