Still just so-so...sliced brisket dry, chopped fairly good. Beans still have chili powder in them. Cole slaw is only chopped cabbage with watery dressing.
Update 3/4/18: Still not my favorite place but Hubby loves it. Discovered off-menu item called "Mailman sandwich," mixed chopped brisket and hot link sausage. (see pic) Tasty but a bit too spicy for my liking. Didn't taste any real cheese in mac&chz.
Update 11/4/2021: Moving down from 3 stars to 2. It would be 1, but Hubby still loves it. I'm fully aware of the difficulties of the last year, but this place is pathetic. The portions have gone down and the prices up. Absolutely no improvement in the food. They could reduce the amount of meat on the smaller buns they're now using and reduce the price, too. Smoked sausage not cut into thin rounds but into quartered lengths, making it very tough to chew. Dismal atmosphere. Dining room now open, but still using paper packets of salt & pepper. However, it's ok for customers to touch the tongs, sauce bottles, and soft drink machines. Chopped beef is still the best thing on their (not there) menu. People hEAR with their EARS.
Update 8/13/22: Still 2 stars because Hubby still loves it. Atmosphere still dismal and dingy. Still paper pkts of s&p. They desperately need Robert Irvine to revamp the dining room and menu. Overheard the meat cutter tell a woman that they had run out of baked potatoes. Sliced onion insert was empty, too. Wonder how they'll make tomorrow's potato salad without those. I'd never go there again except for the Hubby. Hardly any business at 5:00 on a Saturday evening with the Cowboys' first preseason game coming up at 8:00. What a shame! 🥺
5/28/23 Sunday lunch Ditto...no better, no worse.
9/30/23 Saturday, 5:30pm Nine people in dining room, including us. They partially remodeled the place and eliminated truck parking, but it's still dingy and drab inside. Chopped brisket is still the only thing worth eating, but the...
Read moreEhh.. maybe im weird but I like my pulled pork pulled not chopped just something off to me when its all diced up .. I think it should be pulled apart by hand with the natural grain of the meat .. but when its super dry like that u probably do need to chop it .. didn't see any bark what so ever looked like chicken brest .. the ribs wer good one was prettyy chewy but the other 2 wer pretty dam good.. I did like the rub it was caramelized on very nicely.. would of liked to see a bit more of a smoke ring but all in all the ribs wer pretty good.. the brisket was also pretty dam good pulled apart nicely and was very juicy again not much of a smoke ring and very little bark but thats probably just that texas pit BBQ.. I like it super smokey and more bark than a junk yard dog but to each his own .. the sides wer horrible.. walmarts potato salad and Cole slaw are far superior.. just because the main focus is meat doesn't mean u can't have halfway decent sides .. I wish I could of seen them first I could of maybe tried the gumbo and got some chips or something but man that potato salad was super bland and the slaw was on par with KFC.. maybe it was an off day for the pulled pork because the ribs and brisket wer actually pretty good .. nothing to write home about but I wasn't disappointed like I was with that dry as pork .. any who not sure how many of these there are or if its a chain but id say the ribs and brisket wer above average but the pulled pork needed alot of sauce .. the sauce was pretty good.. I liked how they keep it warm in the warming tray thing.. id give em 3 stars but the lady doing the sides was hella rude and does not want to be there.. maybe her bad vibes are soaking into those god awful sides.. shes probably whats attracting all the flies .. seriously though whats with all the flies .. it was 37° this morning you shouldn't be having issues like that with...
Read moreTruckers review A business is best reviewed on 4 categories Process, Product, people, and price Process: from first arrival the building looks abandoned, No lighted sign saying open and the building sign is just leaned up to building on the side walk otherwise nothing stands out. After you enter the menu board is bland, it literally is a concession board from a sports game and the offerings are listed that way. No combo meal breakdown or anything, just this is what items we sale, you figure it out. To top it off I was rushed through the line and was rung up to pay before my plate was even made and had a opportunity to put a meal together. Product: brisket, turkey, sausage with beans and potato salad and slice bread. Brisket was cooked decent just cut to thick which made it like Jack links jerky. Turkey was perfect. Sausage really needs to be changed for a better quality brand that is a little less greasy. Beans need just a bit more seasoning but decent. Loved the potato salad. Please start toasting the bread People: not rude but not welcoming either. No greeting just first guy ask what meat, lady ask what side, young girl rings you up all in less than a minute. Not even a thanks for visiting on your way out. Price is not based on food quality alone. All 4 Ps create the value that can dictate price. That being said price is right if the whole process could get some TLC. Overall experience: honestly one of the most awkward meals I’ve had in a long time. All I could think of was the Jeff Dunham joke “welcome to Bodacious, get your stuff and get out” and for the love off all that’s holy get a tv or radio so we don’t have to sit in an awkwardly quiet restaurant listening to the annoying hum of the...
