Mi Ranchito Mex Grill — Restaurant in Killeen

🚨Updated Review🚨 I stopped in for breakfast one morning to give it a try, and I wasn't that impressed with the breakfast plate. The breakfast tacos I had were great, though! Zero compliants on that end. My service was ok, I did have to find my waitress for utensils. I saw some wall murals that I had not seen when I first visited that were really nice.

I initially went through the drive-thru but decided to go inside instead. The menu is massive!I walked in, and I was greeted immediately by the staff and directed to the to go area so I could order. After looking through the menu, I decided to go with a taco plate with beef, beans, and rice. I ordered the birria tacos for my girlfriend and the cheese quesadilla for my son. My plate was on point! I wish we'd dined in because my tacos were hard shells, and the ride home made the shells soft. They were crunchy at the top, though. The beans and rice had amazing flavors. They were probably the best I've had in the Killeen area. My son ate all of his cheese quesadilla, so it was obviously good to him. The birria tacos, however, were pretty sad. The meat was flavorless, and the tacos themselves just didn't taste like any birria tacos we'd had before. The consomé was basically a cup of oil and grease. They didn't even get finished. It’s absolutely gorgeous inside, they have live mariachi bands, and feels like a good authentic Mexican restaurant….however the service and the food sucked. Growing up in a heavily populated Hispanic town & often visiting Mexico I didn’t understand how the Queso flameado was a hot plate of chorizo with Queso lightly drizzled on top…where is the QUESO in the Queso dish?! I also ordered green chicken enchiladas and the dish was super dry. I asked for more verde sauce to which they brought me a spicy light green hot sauce. After pushing my plate aside and about 3 waitresses passing by without asking how the meal was (about a 10-15 min time period) we asked for the check. They didn’t even bat an eye that I didn’t eat my meal, maybe this happens a lot. Idk how this place has outstanding reviews or maybe I ordered the two things on the menu that lack sauce or in their words...

I don’t leave reviews but I felt this was so very necessary! I have tried this place multiple times. I wanted it to be great because I hate having to drive all the way to Killeen for food. My family came in and we tried to go there, spent $300 dollars on food and drinks. It was terrible service but the food was okay. We let it slide. We went though delivery, we have left very good tips in the drive through over and over the food is awful with terrible serving amounts. To ight was the last straw that broke the camels back. They always say we are so sorry but it’s never fixed. We have tried to give them business. We have hoped for this place to get it together. It’s been a pure disappointment.
