On August 27, my parents (age 90 and 91) ate at the Jade Garden restaurant for the first time. They weren't especially impressed, but left a generous tip because they are generous people. When they went out to the car, a man followed them and began loudly accusing them of stealing a Mai Tai glass. My father asked the man who he was and he said that he was the owner/manager. Obviously, my parents did not steal a glass. They live in a senior living home and usually eat in the dining room; they also have never stolen anything in their lives! This was supposed to be a treat for them to go out. No matter how much they tried to say that they had NOT taken anything, the owner continued to loudly and rudely shout at them next to their car. He said that many glasses had been stolen recently, so he was very angry. Only when my father told him that he was going to phone the police so that they could come and search them and prove their innocence did he back off enough for them to leave. My mother cried all the way home and neither of them slept that night. Their hypothesis for why they were accused is that -- they both had Mai Tais with their meal. My father finished his and the waitress cleared his glass and brought him water. Maybe the owner saw only one glass at the end of the meal and jumped to the wrong conclusion. Nevertheless, he should have checked with the waitress or the kitchen before attacking two very sweet and defenseless nonagenarians in such an aggressive manner! I am appalled -- and my parents have decided not to leave their senior living facility for any more meals out! They are THAT traumatized! I hope that the owner reads this, recalls what he did, and feels...
Read moreThis restaurant hates children. My children and I decided to have a special night out and so we walked together to Jade Garden, the only restaurant place my children asked for. We walked up the ramp (two small children and a baby in a stroller who was asleep). We saw two women at a table and another small group at another table. My kids were so excited that my son asked if he could sit at a specific table. One woman offered me a high chair. The woman who was supposed to wait on us jumped up and said she would not serve us and we could only order take out. I told them their hours say they are open for over an hour and that they are clearly serving other people right now. The women told me no they weren’t. (I could clearly see and make eye contact with the other people eating.) She said we could go outside and order take out and wait but they would not serve us because it was 7. The hours clearly say 8:30 and no where does it specify that is for take out only. Nor is it posted that they will serve adults but not children. My children were disappointed and I already informed this restaurant it was unacceptable to refuse service when my children did nothing wrong and that we would not be back for dine in or take Out. This is coming from someone who orders there for take out at least once a month for my entire family. We are done and if you have small children and the older waitress is working, she will throw you out and not care at all if you tell them they lost your business. To quote the woman “we been in business over 30 years we aren’t...
Read moreThis is my first time going back in about 6 months. It used to be fresh and delicious and seasoned properly. But this time not so much. I'm sorry to not be writing a happy review. Spoiler alert for shrimp fans, the coconut shrimp is not really coconut shrimp. It is not the golden fried deliciousness that is surrounded with crunchy coconut crust. It is shrimp smothered this weird gelatinous gooey sauce that tastes like a combo of sweetened condensed milk and mayonnaise. I'm allergic to dairy (not a pretty picture). The wonton soup was underwhelming and almost tasted like water with floating pasta as the wontons were flavorless also. They changed their tea from the normal Chinese black oolong to Red rooiboo. Which to me tastes like fermented yuckiness. Lastly, the service was very slow, it wasn't that crowded. I saw two other tables near me that got their meals far before I did when I ordered first, and I was only one person. I'm hoping they can change things...
