We just googled this place and were very surprised. The mask mandate had just been lifted so it was pretty crowded on this Saturday evening. We had about a 15 to 20 minute wait to get seated. We visited with the owner and she was very cordial as we discussed the table spacing and how their business had been through the pandemic. Our server was very polite with a cheerful disposition. My wife ordered the chicken tenders with a side salad in lieu of the fries or baked potato. I ordered the small fried catfish (3 filets) with a baked potato and side salad. The salads were out quickly and we both had ranch dressing. No cucumbers for me but my wife had them on hers. We both enjoyed the finely chopped green salad. My wife enjoyed her chicken tenders, saying they had a good flavor. She really like their hushpuppies, they had a bit of a sweet flavor to them. My fried catfish was fresh and tender. They serve a special tartar sauce with a bit of a kick. It was very good, subtle spiciness. I too, really enjoyed the hushpuppies. Overall, we were both well pleased and carried out some leftovers. Spoke to the owner again and told her how much we enjoyed the meal. I would stop there again if our travels...
Read more4/24/22 arrived at 12:21pm. Church crowd was already there. There were 2 of us and we were seated with 8 minutes. We were seated in what looked like an add-on area. There was a table of around 18 when we first arrived. As the minutes passed, more and more people joined. Probably around 30 by this time. Our waitress was working their table and ours. The lady that seated us told us our waitress had the large table and we were okwith that. The lady that also seated us got our drinks for us. Our waitress was great. Even with the ever multiplying number of folks, she did her best to get our food quickly. We both ordered the crawfish half and half. Crawfish Etoufee and a generous side helping of fried crawfish with toasted bread. The food was great. Would definitely eat here again because of the food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the noise level in the added on area. It was so loud, I couldn't carry on a conversation with my boyfriend was 15" away from me. The noise was deafening. I'm sure adding some acoustical panels would...
Read moreMy daughter and I decided to take a drive to Roy's in Kinder for lunch..1/2/24 from Lake Charles. When we arrived no one was at the podium. Waited a few minutes until someone actually saw us. They were all in the dining area. By the way, it was after 1pm so the rush was gone. We were seated at a table in the corner where they put us(black ) people in the corner. Had empty tables throughout the restaurant. The waitress named (Lisa) approached us after 10 minutes after we sat down. Instead of taking a quick second to tell us she will be with us in a moment. She pretended like we were not there. Attending to the (white )customers. I was about to walk out but my daughter persuaded me not too. She finally took our order. Food was okay. Shrimp wasn't fried hard enough for me. After we got our food, the waitress never came back to check on us for drink refills or anything. Our kind(black folk are not welcomed at Roy's Cafish Hut in Kinder. Black people beware. Never going...
