Boxcar Espresso & Ice Cream Shop LLC — Restaurant in La Jara

I was in clear communication with the owner for days and drove 1.5 hours there to pick up an espresso machine with my partner. In the end, our time and gas was wasted because he could have told us that he had sold the machine to someone else earlier that morning.

He instead didn't tell us and still had me come out to look at the space and see if I was interested in collaborating or renting out the shop... It is actually a very cute shop, but that is no way to do business, and the whole experience was very awkward.

Honestly, this would have been a place I would have liked to try if I didn't have a bad personal experience with the owner's husband. Although the owner wasn't involved in this bad deal, we still ended up out there meeting with them and the whole experience lasted too long. I wish that all had gone differently. M only in town a couple days a week and always try to stop here when I’m headed out, for a coffee . This morning I had to go to the tire shop so was in town and decided to try a breakfast burrito. I’m usually not a fan. I just don’t really like eggs and find they typically are dried out and small. This was amazing. Like I want another one! I have to remind myself one does not get to eat eggs and potatoes and bacon and cheese every day but if I wasn’t so old…. I’d eat one every day. Maybe twice a day. Definitely ask for the salsa, it is so good The service is great, the coffee is delicious, they have milk alternatives, as well as sugar free syrups. I’m a big fan of this place. I wish I had more than one...

Stopped here on our way back home to BV, so glad we did! Inside is cozy and clean. The cinnamon roll was soooo gooooooood. If you’re not looking for a meal but want a pick-me-up, you’ll be noticeably happier after eating the cinnamon roll :). I got the croissant/sausage/egg/cheese and it was delicious. Husband got the burrito with green chilis, also delicious. Food was made to order and noticeably fresh, not like the premade microwaved finished breakfasts that many other places have turned into. I didn’t get a coffee, but the menu was extensive and sounded really good. I would stop here again if I’m in the area....
