Texas Pit Stop - La Marque — Restaurant in La Marque

First time trying this place today. I've gotten lots of mixed reviews from several people so we thought what the heck let's give it a shot. I'll start by saying the counter service was excellent. The young lady working was quite pleasant and efficient. Ordered a chopped beef potato a chopped beef sandwich and a small potato salad and it was $34. Now I'm not opposed to paying over priced prices for what I put into my body as long as it's warranted. Well friends not the case here. The sandwich was just alright according to my guy however the potato salad was apparently real good so yay to that. Now the baked potato was old not super old but you can tell when the skin starts to get that papery look feel and texture to it. Also it doesn't hurt that I use to work at a BBQ joint and went to Ai for culinary and I know the hold time on potatoes. Not a big baker potato like most places use I had to sit and spread it all out to make myself feel better about the $16 almost $17 I had just paid for it. The sauce (spicy) has good flavor with a nice kick but just nothing special. And the potato itself wasn't hot outta the oven either. No steam no frills. Needless to say glad I tried it but won't be rushing back. For what I paid without even getting a soda or tea or a beer for that matter there's way better options out there folks. Don't believe the hype. Even Pappas BBQ doesn't charge outlandish prices like that for better quality food. And no extra charges for their 2oz solo cups if you wanted extra whatever on the side. I used to really like this place!! I called my family's order in. I asked the young man to put my order separately from my daughter's. He said he needed to call the Mgr. She gets on the phone & asks if she can help me. I didn't know I needed help since I had placed my order already. The ONLY thing we needed was to charge my oder separately. Unbeknownst to us They changed their menu. We wanted a kid meal w/ rib. They no longer offer that. So we made adjustments for the 6yr old. Nothing special was ordered except side of chopped beef & extra salsa for tacos. When my daughter picked up the food, the MANAGER said "IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF WE HAD OUR ORDER READY B4 WE CALLED" RUDE!!!! We knew EXACTLY what we wanted 😡 Their menu changed!! Not only that...the extra salsa was not in there & THEY had charged her for an extra side item. It would be HELPFUL to have a Mgmt team who had better guest service!! Pro tip: There is a class for that!! Guest service has always been good during the day. Never had a bad experience til today. Very disappointed!! I realize all Pit Stop are not the same. I asked to see the meat or a sample and was denied. The cashier said they are all the same but obviously they are not. The one by College of the Mainland was excellent. Even the customer service was great. This location I guess I passed the girl off by asking to at least see my meat before I purchased it but was denied. Never will I ever return. Brisquette is just too expensive for me not to have seen what I was purchasing. The attitude was very well shown. If I'm spending my money why can't I get what I paid for??? I guess they don't know what each location uses as seasoning because this location is NOT it!!! My meat was hard on the ends and was not the cut I asked for. On top of that, she said she they could sprinkle the house seasoning on it but the other location is smoked with a rub...which is why I asked to at least see my meat before purchasing but once again,, was DENIED. Now I can see why they came in 5th place (Mainland location)...
