I love Rotella bread. I do not think there is a better bakery of it's type in the United States. The bread is delicious and is fairly reminiscent of the bread I've eaten in Italy. We like going to their Discount Bread Store located at the factory. You can find bread there that they don't sell in stores. I believe they even sell bread that they screwed up, but even that comes out unbelievable good and original. What I don't like about Rotella is the two, rude, young women who work in the bread store. The line for the checkout is not demarcated and so if you don't follow the line they don't just nicely inform you that you accidentally jumped the line, they embarass you. They see you coming or waiting and then wait until you reach the counter and then verbally decimate you. I thought they did it to just me, and I won't go in there anymore. But my wife and daughter told me they did it to a woman today. They took her bread away from her and told her to go to the back of the line. The lady did what I did, quickly left the store totally embarassed. Hilda and Heidi are quickly giving Rotella a Bread Nazi reputation..."No Bread for you!" Still the bread is soooo good, but I can only give them three stars because of the pissy women...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem Rotella's Italian Bakery is. Cannot believe we literally drive by this (as it is just off I-80) and knew nothing about it. Not that I eat gluten free, but the selection of gluten free options at this bakery were on the level over most grocery stores! It is just a small retail store off from the factory. We felt like we were robbing the place given what we walked out with in our big ol' shopping bag but alas, all rang up correctly by the rep. We picked up 2 loaves of their pizza dough, raisin bread, sesame seed buns, a loaf of French bread, and a loaf of bread to bake in the oven -- spouse loved the raisin bread, and we simply cannot wait to try the others. This is certainly a budget friendly place and one we will make a stop at more often now that we know the secret! Wish we had taken some pics but were pretty excited to have gotten...
Read moreThis place is a gem for excellent, high-quality discount bread. Shelves are packed with everything from classic white and multigrain to French-toast bread, plus buns, brioche, and rolls. They also stock rotating specialty loaves—think raisin, jalapeño, blueberry, and more—so there’s always something new to try. Even when it’s “day-old,” the bread is soft, fresh-tasting, and comes in convenient 1- or 2-lb loaves that are perfect for sandwiches, toast, or the freezer.
Customer service is outstanding, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier—they’re happy to answer questions and point out the day’s specials. The value is hard to beat, the store is quick to pop in and out of, and you leave feeling like you scored a find. If you’re anywhere near Omaha and love great bread at great prices, do yourself a favor and stop by. Highly...
