Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Lafayette

I don’t like to leave reviews for bad experiences I have with restaurants but this was so important that I do this time. I arrive to this location to order a super green Caesar wrap with Turkey & chips, Avocolada Smoothie, and a chia oatmeal pudding bowl. First they handed me the first bag which had an expired chia oatmeal pudding bowl. The sticker on the lid had an employee’s name on it with the date she made it which was 8/24/2024 and the expired date stated use by Thursday which would have been 8/29/2024. Today is Friday 8/30/2024 when I made my purchase. I got the lady’s attention at the window to let her know that the sticker on this bowl says it’s expired, I thought y’all make these fresh to order. She said, “Yes mam. We do. I’m sorry. We will get you another one.”. So another lady comes to bring me another one and states, “I made this one myself.” I guess to let me know she made it fresh. She did apologized multiple times and I accepted because I don’t believe in giving people a hard time. But it really was a turn off for me being that I am a few weeks pregnant and just think if I would have eaten that spoiled food. They proceeded to give me my wrap and chips then I left. When I got to work I noticed the wrap was very skimpy with the ingredients and it was not slightly toasted how it’s suppose to be, my chia oatmeal pudding bowl had more Greek yogurt than it did oatmeal so it was very tart. Not to mention I waited in line for almost 30 minutes for my order and I was the only customer in line and later one other car came. I’ve been coming to this location on my way to work since they’ve opened and over the years I’ve seen a lot of turn overs in employees, the quality of the food has declined, and the speed/quality of service has also declined. I don’t wish any bad for anyone because it takes courage to open a business, but it is also vital that your employees have great customer service and integrity to keep the business successful. ongoing issue concerning quality of ingredients!!! Ive never left a google review, especially not a bad one, I prefer to handle my business in private especially when it comes to something like this. I’ve contacted this location in private concerning this issue with hopes they could fix it but nothing has changed. I honestly feel like contacting them regarding this issue pissed off who ever made my bowl this morning because what I got was just appalling. I can’t believe anyone would think what they gave me today was okay. I’ve gotten the same items at another location with zero issues. The fruits are fresh, the bowl actually looks presentable and appetizing. Zero complaints with other locations. Over the last month or so, every bowl I order from this location seems to have fruit that’s borderline rotten. The blueberries are mushy, the strawberries look like they could be growing mold. It’s just heartbreaking to get to work and open up your food and have to question wether or not the fruit will make you sick… especially when the whole reason you ordered the food in the first place was for the fresh ingredients. If I would see fruit like this in my own fridge, I would not eat it. Why should I pay someone for something I wouldn't even eat in my own home? I used to love going here and went pretty often. The wraps used to be filled and made great. I was full after each of them. About the last year, I stopped going to this place because it got to the point where the wraps were made much smaller and skimpy with either wrong ingredients (and I never do custom orders. These are all the ingredients on the basic menu items) or given someone else's food entirely.

I decided to give them a try tonight as it had been a while since I've gone. Sure enough, I ordered a veggie humus wrap and I received some sort of chicken wrap that contained just chicken, lettuce, and some sort of salsa? I didn't even see this mixture as any of the available items. It wasn't a Baja wrap, a Carribean jerk wrap or a Caesar wrap... in addition to this wrap being wrong. I decided to try it anyway. It was small, not filling and not good. I don't even think anyone else was in line so I'm not sure how there was a mix up between a hummus veggie and this. I understand mistakes happen but this issue happened so much here that it's my reasoning for no longer going and I was just reminded why. Other reviews here seem to mention the decline in quality and size of products.
