Regatta Seafood and Steakhouse — Restaurant in Lake Arthur

I wrote a review on Trip Advisor 4 years ago and gave this reant a 5 star. The last review on google was 5 months ago and it was a 5 star. What Happened. We went with some friends of ours after raving about this place. First and foremost our waitress was great. She just got overwhelmed with the kitchen staffs incompetence. Apps. The Fried Mushrooms were great. The CAJUN CRAB DIP was a skim on the bottom of the bowl. Not enough for 1 person let alone for a couple to share. I had the PONT AUX CHENE PASTA, Very light on the sauce and Soft Shell Crab was just very lightly dusted with flour and fried. The person who fried the mushrooms should have done the crab. My wife and friend wanted the CRAB CALCASIEU. Not happening because no crawfish to put in the sauce. Wife had the lunch special Hamburger steak, Very small piece of meat with a full plate of red beans and rice. I wish I had taken a picture to show this presentation. My friend ordered the POSEIDON’S PLATTER. When he realized there were no Oysters, The Manager who had taken over at this time said, We put extra shrimp. He had 4 shrimp. Here's the best part. His wife ordered the lunch special Chicken Fried Steak. I still don't know what that was but it wasn't Chicken Fried Steak. Best I can figure it was a very small piece of the chicken strips. No where near a Chicken Fried Steak. Another picture of this should have been taken. How can a restaurant go down so fast. If you do not make it PLEASE don't blame it on customers or the economy. This experience was a sad one in general. We had a table of 5 and the only thing good about what we had was the mimosas, the server was sweet, could have been a tad more attentive considering we waited for a check for 15-20 minutes with little to no one in the restaurant, and the restaurant itself was cute. The pasta was undercooked, the sauce was dry and incredibly bland, the soft shell crab was soggy and unflavored, the entire dish was absolutely disgusting. My husband ordered oysters and they look like raisins they were so overcooked. One of my friends ordered fried shrimp hoping for a safe call and the shrimp was soggy and gooey and rubbery all at the same time. The fries were served cold. The chicken tenders were unflavored. The crab cakes were soggy. The cooks do not wash their hands when leaving the bathroom, which I did witness. They also do not seem to have a dress code being they were wearing their pajamas and crocs in the back. All and all the food was absolutely disgusting and overpriced. We spend almost $30 per person and that’s with only an entrée. We will not be returning again. I hate having to give such a bad review but we were incredibly disappointed.

We just went back a week ago and they’ve definitely redeemed themselves. Everything was a lot better, I would definitely recommend the stuffed shrimp to anyone who goes there. You can tell they hired different staff and made big changes. I’m so happy to see this place change...

Normally I do not give reviews, but unfortunately my family and I did not receive ANY service from this restaurant besides being seated to our table. The restaurant has a beautiful scenery of the lake sitting outdoors and beautiful indoor seating as well. Upon arrival, my family were seated outside and hostess was very nice. But then it went downhill from there. Our waiter/waitress never waited on us even for drinks. After waiting 15 minutes, I had gone inside with my toddler daughter and told the hostess we were still waiting for our server. The hostess said that she told whoever that we were out there waiting and supposedly she told them again. While she was saying this, another hostess I am guessing was listening and knew of this. So then I had gone back out to the table to wait again. Another 15 minutes went by and STILL NOBODY waiting on my family and I. We recently moved to the town and heard great things about them, but apparently the servers wanted to continue to ignore us. So we got up and left. As we were walking out, the other hostess that was listening earlier asked if there was anything she could do but all we told her was no even though she knew that we had waited long and were ignored.
