I had the red beans and sausage, and my wife had the shrimp poboy. We also ordered 3 boudin balls (jalapeno and cheese filled).

The red beans and rice was excellent, and had enough big chunks of sausage to share three ways. It came with garlic bread and some creamy potatoe salad ( I guess it was potatoe salad) which I didn't much care for, (too sweet) but my wife ate in about 3 bites. She liked it very much. I took about half of the beans and rice home because it was a very healthy portion.

My wife had the shrimp poboy, with Cajun fries and a dill pickle spear on the side. The shrimp were HUGE and fried to perfection with the crunchy batter on the outside, and when you bit into one, it "popped" in your mouth like shrimp is supposed to. She took half the sammich home because it was BIG.

The boudin balls left a little to be desired. After all the hype, we expected the boudin balls to THE boudin balls that all other boudin balls bow down too. We found them a little bland, but to be fair, we always have boudin balls (if possible) wherever we eat, and our expectations were very high. I will add that the blanco cheese in the center was a nice touch, and raised our opinion of the boudin balls, however, we never found any jalapeno taste.

Red Beans & Rice - 9 out of 10. The only improvement I could think of would be if the Tabasco Sauce was already on there when I got them.

Shrimp Poboy - 9 out of 10.

Boudin Balls - 6 out of 10. We were expecting something so "Cajun" as boudin balls to be spicier and have that "Hope they got free refills here. I might need it" feeling. We didn't get that.

Overall, we give Leonard's 8 out of 10, with friendly staff and historical (as well as hysterical) decor making up for our disappointment in the...

We ordered a poboy combo and a chicken basket. We got one medium styrofoam cup. When we got our receipt we noticed the cashier charged us for an extra drink and an up charge for a large cup. When I asked, she said ā€œI didn’t tell you, but we charge for an outside drink.ā€ I said I would have put my cup of water back in the car if they told me, and I did put it back. i then asked for a refund for the charge and for the upcharge to the large drink we didn’t receive or ask for. She got her manager, who yelled at us and repeatedly said she was confused. We explained clearly that we only wanted the one medium drink that comes with the combo. She angrily tried to give us .65 cents for the up charge and a large cup ā€œbecause it’s cheaper.ā€ We said we just wanted the one medium cup the combo came with, that we already had soda in, and she took it and gave us two large cups and said ā€œI don’t really care at this point, y’all have a nice day.ā€ The interaction was entirely unnecessary, rude, and embarrassing. Don’t charge customers for extra things without explaining it, and don’t yell at them for your mistake.

Food was really...

Not even going to lie, this place looks sketchy from outside, there's limited parking and the parking lot is always full. You walk in and are immediately at the front counter, but greeted with a smile. This place stays packed!! Leonard's was recommended by a co-worker and I was skeptical! However, the staff were super helpful and very very friendly. They each recommended their favorite plates. Food was quick and amazingly delicious. The red beans and rice are phenomenal, and the boudin is yummy too. They even have stuffed boudin. I live out of town and I have gone to visit just to eat at Leonard's 3 times within the last month!! I travel from out of town as often as I can just for the food and the staff service!! Each time I go I bring new co-workers and they have the same reaction to the outside as I do, but the food is so good that the parking lot and busy feelings are no comparison. It may be packed and there may not be enough chairs to go around but you're not going to wait more than 5-10 minutes for really good home...

On yesterday I drove to Leonard's Food Quarters from šŸŠ range Texas for lunch and the experience was awesome. The clerk and cashier was very welcoming ,My selection was Red beans and rice with pork chops. The flavor was as I remembered it to taste from over 10 years back. Flavor was very consistent. Plus I ordered a slice of lemon cake to go with the meal and the cake was Soo moist til it stuck to the roof of My mouth like a fresh peanut butter and jelly sandwich on good breadšŸ˜‹ Mmm Mmm The lunch crowd atmosphere was pleasant while seated inside a booth to notice the vibe while there I am considering to ride there again today to try something that a friend suggested to eat from the tasty menu Thank You and keep up Your Southern Hospitality energy šŸ¤ šŸ‘ŒšŸ’¬

I was just passing through and decided to stop for something local, and indeed, local it was. The atmosphere was great, with down-to-earth service. I particularly loved the manager, as well as the attentive service we received at the cashier's desk. The food is definitely well-known and welcoming, as the flavors are extremely popular. Drive-through service is available, but sitting inside with the air conditioning is worth it to enjoy the old-fashioned decor. Bathrooms are clean, and tables are spacious. Definitly one to be repeated.

Visiting from out of town and so glad we stopped here. Looked like many other people know about the good, home style food because the place was packed and it was nearly 1 pm. Ordered the Daily Special which happened to be baked chicken with dirty rice, beans and a sweet cornbread. Got a sweet potato pie and lemon cake to eat later. Seriously one of the best places for real Southern cooking. Maybe go back for dinner! And the staff were all friendly, helpful, kind and professional. Thank you from the great Pacific Northwest.
