I've been a long time customer of this restaurant. Eating here at least twice a week or more. Slowly specials are becoming not so special or with fine print, prices are ever rising and they are beginning to nitpick charges as to the price of sides dependant on who eats them, and management is unyielding and unapologetic. I usually order the whole salad bar. At least twice a week. Today we had a table of 5, all paying full price, and I was not feeling very well and wasn't very hungry. I knew that the side salad bar was $3.99 when ordered with a meal (one trip only). So I had my husband add it to his burger. There was never an issue with this before. The girl took the order no problem, even confirmed that we were sharing. Then as she was headed to the table with my drink and rolls, she stopped to talk to the manager. I'm not sure if she asked or told him about my order but she finally came back to the table and said if we were sharing and I had the salad bar I would have to pay full price. Mind you, the salad plate for the side was half the size of the full priced option and only one trip as opposed to endless, but what does a customer of 30 years know when they decide to change that? I asked to speak to the manager. He blamed corporate for being unable to budge, said he was going to address the problem with his staff, and claimed that with a buffet it can't be shared. I addressed the one trip limit, as the reason I wanted this option. He claimed there wasn't one.... FYI everyone. That little plate can go up as often as you like! Or maybe they have only one plate now, since last I had the salad as a side. Maybe it was just the day, his condescending tone as he explained things to me like I was ignorant and didn't know how a buffet works, the fact like he acted like he has never seen me in there before, or because he was defensive and didn't even say he was sorry for the confusion, but I was done and asked for the bill for the drinks we hadn't drank and he "graciously" said they were on the house. He took the whole thing very personally and was clearly annoyed that I asked to talk to him (guess he wasn't aware I was watching him laugh and chatting the whole time interacting with the server over my lemonade as they discussed what I was allowed to order and at what price), and I wholeheartedly believe he does not care if we ever came back again. I am sure I will be the topic of conversation he can chuckle at with them for the rest of the day. So at least $80 walked out today with a very sour feeling attached, and the $50 I spend on average a week may dry up also. Maybe to him that doesn't matter. They aren't the only place in town, and the salad bar really is all that gets me coming again and again, which I pay full price for despite the fact it went up in price several times. I'm a regular girl, trying to make a regular living, and still enjoy supporting local. But today, I didn't feel I mattered. Maybe I don't. Sad that local service is so corporate these days that you have to read fine print on specials, what days they apply or don't apply, and price variations and policy are dependant on the mood of the day and what the manager and servers may or may not...
Read moreYour manager personally screamed at us at our table over plastic black bottom and plastic top lids acting like he knew the owner saying oh these plastic containers aren't for use this is out of the goodness of my heart because the owner said it costs money.
And was overheard saying our 100+ money spent on said restaurant was unneeded. In the men's washroom.
Counterpoint:I fund everyone at the restaurant twice a week the 2nd visit would have covered the plastic containers costs hangup over containers with your manger to the point he had to be involved isn't my problem see counterpoint 2
Counterpoint 2:If your owner didn't want the containers with a black bottom and plastic lid top to be used he or she shouldn't have bought them then. The Styrofoam ones don't do bean sauce well. And it's not my burden as a customer they are brought to be used.
Counterpoint 3:Because of your managers emotional fit, we are not coming back restaurants are a luxury good and we wanted peace and serenity not being yelled at over plastic containers we can easily cook at home peacefully we just support the business. When screamed at and having our plastic containers throw to the table in a aggressive manner we looked at him saying well we,ll just leave and we're not coming back he yelled don't threaten me! Like we were the manger and him the customer like we could've thrown him out. No not how it works and with that bizarre attitude that really encouraged us not to come back.
What's really nonsensical we've been here for years and there was no issue until today at Wednesday Aug 14th 2024
Good food until your manger threw a childish fit over containers and if his attitude reflects the owner shame on you both. I will give the owner the benefit of the doubt but your manger made it quite clear our money isn't welcome back.
For any customers reading this God forbid you get anything runny like soup or their beans with sauce and you want a plastic container you will be mistreated.
Zero stars customer service and coperate has been called these zero stars are non negotiable. I might not have your mangers name but this incident was reported and I'm spreading word of mouth over this ridiculous treatment. My money is...
Read moreWell this review is a little odd and long. I'm a harsh food critic with expensive taste. That being said... I find all of this food extremely cheap. It's the cheapest chicken, the cheapest beef, the cheapest pizza, the cheapest macaroni, etc etc.. all drowned in decent tasting sauces to make them palatable. The salad and desert stations are what I would call standard American; nothing wrong with them in my opinion. I'm not saying to upgrade to filet, giant shrimp, and crab legs for lunch, but a slight upgrade would make a huge difference. Then why did I give it 5 stars? Tons of Americans, probably the majority of us, are used to and prefer this super salty cheap food palette. Even though this place is not for me I felt that more people would get more benefit from a 5 star review vs the 2 star i would have gave. In my opinion, if you buy the cheapest food you get 2 stars. Cook the cheapest food wrong and get 1 star. Another important detail would be - if you're on a low sodium diet this place could be hazardous to your health. Lastly, I find it strange that GC refers everyone to their website with every review yet makes no changes. Why would you read the entire review then answer the review then refer everyone to your website? Why not just tell the people that are in charge a generalization of the reviews? You know most people aren't going to go to the werbsite and say the same thing they just said in the review, and you know your not going to make any changes so why do it? Just seems irrational. Maybe whos in charge of that can realize the irrationality of it and stop doing it. That's all! Thanks for reading! EDIT:nevermind, i see why they refer everyone to their website. It's to get your info and emails, so they can advertise to you more. Hey...
