Union Coffee Bar @ Trestle Station — Restaurant in Lake Stevens

I worked at Union for almost 4 years at multiple locations and spent my last 2 years at Trestle Station in Lake Stevens. I initially loved this company, the atmosphere along with the level of trust and overall duties. After about a year I began to realize that the real atmosphere of the place was not what I initially thought and began to give a toxic impression. Store management and district management seemed to not appreciate any form of initiative to improve skills as a barista or seeking any forms of growth opportunities. Truthfully, it gave the impression that they may have felt threatened by this and would then actively retaliate against those who pursued growth in any fashion. Fast forwarding to spring of this year, I was terminated without any explanation, reason or details of any kind. I further discovered that multiple baristas left shortly after my termination due to similar views and experiences as my own. During my employment I had exemplary attendance with no violations or notes on my record. As an example, during the pandemic I came to work after testing positive for Covid, because no one was available to cover my shift so I was mandatorily required to come in. The environment turned toxic and became hostile as gossip and retaliation from management and others took over. Due to the drastic unprofessionalism and lack of ethical treatment for their hardworking employees, I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. This place is great! From the drinks, food, to the staff, it's always a great place to stop. My daughter always asks to go see Ms Neveah, Ms, Allison, Ms Wendy, and Ms Emily (and the rest of the team) who are more like big sisters/aunts/family to her and our family. Since moving to a leadership role, Neveah has done wonders here. From things like "question of the day" to help some of the new employees develop skills to interact with customers, maintaining high levels of cleanliness of the stand, remembering tons of customers drinks and having them ready to go, to being there personally on holidays so the other team can be with family, ya got a rockstar. Service is always good and friendly. Drinks when they’re made right are unmatched. I think their attention to detail and getting drinks right is severely lacking at times in the morning though. Twice already in the past month I’ve had drinks made wrong. First my lotus was made with regular water. Then most recently, my lotus was mixed with I don’t even know what. Maybe red bull? It was a completely different color and had a tan/orange tint.
