Pizza Nova Express — Restaurant in Lake Township

I absolutely hate that I have to say this, but I don’t hate it enough not to say it.

I most definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone you care about or even remotely tolerate 😒😒 Lbvs the customer and manager service here is below subpar, unnecessary and utterly disgraceful. I won’t bore with the details of several back to back unpleasant and unprofessional experiences here, due to the attitudes staff/management may exude when they mess up your order every 2nd/3rd time you order. They get frustrated with the customer because they may be understaffed or feel upset about messing up your order instead of simply acknowledging the error and apologizing so we that way the customer and staff can calmly and respectfully come up with a positive way to move forward in correcting the order. Unfortunately that won’t happen at this restaurant.

The reason for the 1 star and 5 in the food rating is because all in all, their food is at least something worthy enough of keeping you coming back and fair enough pricing to somewhat endure the mistreatment and disrespect of they are having a hard day. The food and convenience of their late night hours are probably the main attraction for this establishment because I unfortunately have not experienced anything positive other than decent food at late/inconvenient hours. At least they’re an option for a desperate night/day but be prepared for constant messed up orders that they’ll replace with a unsettling attitude and aggressive tones on how they will make sure they go the extra mile to let you know that they are going or charge you every single cent owed on a replacement order because of their inability to give the correct orders out the first time. They will abruptly tell you what you owe them for them to correct their mistake instead of apologizing and correcting the mistake they’ve made and just swallowing their pride of a $1 difference and correcting the order.

I only use this place every once in a blue moon 🌖 because of the service, but at least I am happy after the second round of ordering and knowing I won’t have to do it for another 3-6 months when I’ve a craving/late night need for it !!

10/10 I do NOT recommend. Absolutely not. My husband and I ordered four pizza slices and two regular fries with two sides of BBQ sauce. Today was 1.99 pizza sale - so we went ahead and tried them. Upon arriving to the location - we were greeted with mediocre service - specifically from an older lady at the front counter. She seemed as if we were a bother to her - while asking questions because this was our first time here. We ended up ordering the four slices of pizza and inquired about the fries as they have so many different items on their menu - so it was too difficult to find. She informed us that the fries would be 3.95 for a regular fry (which we had no idea what that meant). Anywho - we said okay and asked if it came with anything like mild sauce as we do live in Chicago and that sauce is kind of a staple. However - she replied in a nasty tone that we don’t serve that. As if ‘that’ was unheard of or uncommon. My husband proceeded to ask for BBQ sauce instead - she responded that it would be 1.00 per cup. Now - we’re already paying four dollars per fry - I would think SOMETHING comes with the fries outside of the little packets of ketchup offered. Our total came out to be around 20.68 - as we were charged additional for using a debit card. Once arriving home - we unwrapped the pizzas as they do not come on plates or anything - just paper wrapped around the pizza and our two LESS than small fries for 3.95. The fries taste old - it tastes as if they were dipped and cooked in old grease. They were horrible and hard. The pizza was disgusting. It has a before and after taste and the cheese tastes a bit off. The cups of BBQ sauce is also bad - as it does have a tangy flavor that makes the sauce taste extremely bad and bitter. I would not recommend. If you all are looking for a nice pizza place on the south side or far south side - I would recommend Phil’s pizza for whole pizzas or Hienie’s Shrimp House on Torrence Avenue. They sale THE BEST PIZZA SLICES as well as whole pizzas. Their fries are also crinkled with mild sauce and seasoning. This was my second time here in 10 years, the first time the customer service was bad but the slice of pizza was okay. I have been driving past this place every since. Tonight I was hungry and going past again, I thought I would give them another try, it's been a long time what the heck! I purchased the 5 hot wings, 2 slices of cheese pizza and ravioli. I figured I would taste what I like to see what I would purchase in the future. The pizza looked like it had been there for a while, I asked the cashier how long and she said she didn't know but it was cheese so I got it. The pizza tasted like cardboard, the hot wings were over cooked and dried out the ravioli which I asked the girl what was on the inside, told me nothing was on the inside it was just pasta. I knew that wasn't correct, but that you could have mozzarella baked on top so I said okay but I didn't want any meat. There was 5 ravioli with ricotta inside that looked to be just thrown in the sauce, there wasn't any mozzarella baked on top. It all looked like garbage, I paid about 20 hard earned dollars for some garbage because that's were it all went. I didn't have to stop and give Pizza Nova my money. I could have gone anywhere, at least, provide me with the fresh edible appetizing product you claim to sell and I believe to be purchasing. Why do I have to find out when I get home, and you are now closed, that I gave you good money for a product that wasn't any good. This is how I personally feel, good, bad, or indifferent treat people the way you want to be treated, don't SELL me something you wouldn't eat yourself, I'm not asking you for anything for free, I am paying you.
