Chinese take out. No dining room. Small customer space inside. Ran for a cuban coffee while waiting for our order. Discovered this place about a year ago. The food is good. Prices are medium to high. Service is fast.
Crab Rangoon. Great. Hot. Crispy. Bueno. Flavorful. Many places can't do it well. Red House nails the crab Rangoon.
Egg roll? Ok. Not the best ever, but not bad. You're not spitting it out, but it's just average.
House fried rice? On point. Pretty good. You could probably get the rice and Rangoon and be out.
I always judge take out Chinese on the above items and the egg Foo young. Again , not everybody can pull it off well. I got the house variety--in case you don't know: the HOUSE variety has all the different meats; not just chicken or just beef or just shrimp, etc. Anyway I would say a solid 8.5 out of 10. The gravy--btw essential element of the dish-- was just ok maybe 6.5 or so. It was salty and a bit dark. Not necessarily bad qualities. I waited till I got home to eat mine and the gravy had congealed slightly which is not weird. But the flavor was heavy, as I said. I'm a stickler on my egg foo young, yall.
Over all the visit was good and the food was satisfying. We will go back again sometime I'm sure. Often fresher and hotter is best for EFY.
Not bad and on the list...
Read morePersonally , not good. Krab Rangoons had minced onions in them (that's a first, and I've had Rangoons at many Asian/Chinese restaurant). I had a lunch special and they didn't include the soda (but its a advertised). The bourbon chicken was highly questionable. Seems liked very old Chicken or duck meat . And the special lo mein was lacking meat and veggies and it tasted old / not fresh . Like it had been stored in the fridge for a couple days. I ended up throwing out the food. Positive notes , the delivery was fast and they did try to reach me until they got a hold of me so they could securely deliver my food as I was not home at the time of drop off. Chicken wings were crispy and flavorful but the chicken was dry/old. Maybe an old...
Read moreDon't know their own menu, or chinese apparently. I ordered delivery from this place and picked chow mein, which is fried noodles. I'm not going to say I'm an expert on chinese culture, but when you google chow mein, it shows fried noodles. The word mein LITERALLY means noodles.
What I got was shrimp on a bed of bean sprouts. There was no description of the menu item anywhere on the menu so I trusted I'd get... noodles. I'm staring at my online receipt right now that says clearly 'chow mein.' I called to say what is this? And a woman only said "Chow mein is vegetable only. You want noodles, order lo mein"
Completely unhelpful, unapologetic, and wrong item. There's no point in going to a chinese restaurant that doesn't have...
