Andrea was the most rude host I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't understand why this woman I don't know personally was SO horrible to me including rolling her eyes, looking at me like I was trash and talking to me with EXTREME attitide. It was so bad that my boyfriend was insisting we say something and get up and leave. I have NEVER been treated so badly at a restaurant before or felt so uncomfortable by the glares from not only her but the other server working. Come to find out, she "knows of me" and is spreading terrible accusations about me including that I tried to steal money from oak star Bank, her previous job. HOW GOD AWFUL OF A THING TO SAY!!!! Anyone who knows me knows I would NEVER. I am a good person. Not only is she saying terrible things about me but my entire family and things that are far too inappropriate to post in a reveiw!!!!. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. How sad that she can do that and get away with it AND she's a manager!!!! Like what!?! I don't know this woman and I hope I never encounter her again unless it's her apologizing for treating me so bad and spreading untrue things about me amongst her workplace. Absolutely so heartbreaking and I pray she finds the peace she needs. Unfortunately I will not ever be coming back to eat here because i never want to feel that way again especially when we are paying to be there. A hostess, a grown woman at that, should never be allowed to get away with treating guest in such a poor manner and slandering them and their family's name. It is a workplace, leave your drama, rudeness, and accusations at home. I have never been so uncomfortable in my life during a meal when it was supposed to be a nice date night. Thank you for that, Andrea. I heavily debated leaving this review because I do not want to mess with how this woman puts food on the table and supports her family. It would seem she has no concern though how she talks of me and my family to her coworkers amd others, nor how she treats me when I'm paying to receive good service and food. I can't just "let it go". She should at the very least have a stern talking to. It's not right to treat people in the manner she did and now I will not come back and I'll make sure my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are beyond impressed with this place. We have not eaten inside due to covid so I canāt speak of the service but I can give my two cents about the food quality. Two nights ago my wife had the single turkey dinner with the beans and Mac and cheese. The turkey was not incredibly moist. I am not a turkey fan at all but it could easily change my mind if I had to eat turkey. Beans were great and Mac and cheese was good as well. For me, I had the heart attack burger. It was incredible! I would dare say tied for me for best burger at the lake. Wicked Willies has a burger called the wicked burger which is the only burger at the lake that comes close. My oldest son had a pork āsliderā. I put that in quotes because it was enormous. He loved it as well. The next thing is none of us could finish ours. Portions were great value. Reheated the next day they were just as good as the first. So what did we do today? We loved it and wanted more so we went back for another carry out order.
Was it good again? Could they repeat themselves?
Absolutely.
My wife stuck with the turkey and again, it was moist, the portion was huge, and she says it is the best turkey she has ever had period.
I switched it up and went with the burnt ends. I love burnt ends but hesitate to get them from many places. I love a meaty burnt end and most places burnt ends end up being half meat half fatty blobs. Not here, I had a literal bowlful of sweet, smoky burnt ends and only two small bites that were even more than half fat. Perfectly understandable to have two in there lol.
Another thing is the house sweet sauce is so so good. Sweet, slightly tangy, and oh so Smokey.
I know times are hard for so many people. Covid has been very hard on all of us but please support local businesses when you can. There is no better deserving bbq place of your money at the lake than here. I figure any restaurant for me must either have great tasting food, or at least have an acceptable quantity to create value for me. This place has both in spades. Credit where credit is due, best bbq at the lake hands down....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter the excitement of seeing a new BBQ restaurant in what otherwise is a sea of mediocrity (or worse) at the Lake, I just had to stop in; especially after all the 5 star reviews.
We sampled everything they had but the chicken. The pulled pork was GREAT. The sausage was also pretty darn good (warning: SPICY for those who cant take the heat which definitely isn't me, but I can imagine lots of surprised faces for those unexpecting). The ribs were disappointingly dry (all at the table agreed) but could have been bad timing (stopped in around 3pm). Paid $3 extra for so that was a bummer. The ribs also were served coated in their house (much too sweet) sauce of theirs (lesson learned).
I think great (aka 5 star) BBQ (especially being from KC) should stand on its own (without sauce). As for the the sauces on offer, they are ALL very sweet, which doesn't suit my preferences at all. A better selection of sauces would be great. Would like to see a HOT bbq sauce as well for those that like to spice things up (and ideally not laced with tons of sugar). Surprising that they dont offer a spicy sauce option after trying that sausage of theirs!
For what you pay, I have to hold the food to a high standard ($25 for 2 meat dinner with 2 sides and 2 drinks). If you have a sweet tooth, then you will likely enjoy. But the super dry ribs and premium price they commanded knocks off a couple stars.
Great view of the lake out back if you wish to sit outside and the place was clean. We had intended to stop in the night before but they were out of everything but chicken and sausage around 7pm so I'd suggest going over lunch currently until they get a better handle on inventory vs demand (understandable for a new place; plus it was Memorial...
