The Handsome Hobo Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Laketon Township

TLDR: sit outside if you can in the summer; it’s lovely! Good pizza, YUMMY CRAB RANGOON DIP, decent drinks, good service, and crayons for the kiddos!

First off, this is a very late review, but I took notes! 🤣 Some of us wanted to sit outside, and since I’m writing the review, I get to complain about it 🤣 but it was beautiful out there in the summer and I hope to return next year and sit out there (see video). We sat inside, which was nice enough- not a knock on the restaurant- I just wanted to be outside!! 🌴 ☀️

We started off with piña coladas.🍹It was hot out that day and we were thirsty so those went down super quickly. Pretty sweet, but not TOO sweet 😎. I ended up getting a second one.

We started off the food with the CRAB RANGOON DIP 🦀(Warm crab cream cheese dip, drizzled with sweet chill sauce and topped with green onions, and served with wonton chips). It was super good. I accidentally ate most of it. 🤭🥴 The chips were fried PERFECTLY and basically melted in your mouth, and as a person with adult braces, that means a lot! (I recognize most people don’t care about that, but I do, and honestly I write these reviews mostly to remind myself whether or not I like a place and want to return 😬. Most of us got pizzas 🍕 - they’re 9” which is more than enough for me (“that’s what she said” joke inserted here). My friend ordered the TERIYAKI CHICKEN pizza (Teriyaki sauce, chicken, bacon, pineapple, mozzarella cheese, and scallion) and said it was very tasty.

Someone else ordered the BACON CHICKEN RANCH Pizza (Hobo's ranch dressing, grilled chicken, fresh chopped spinach and bacon topped with mozzarella cheese, minced jalapeños and shredded parmesan) and it was reported back to me that it was also “very tasty”.

I guess I couldn’t get enough of that sweet crab rangoon goodness, so I ordered the CRAB RANGOON Pizza (Crab cream cheese spread, mozzarella, sweet chili drizzle, crumbled wontons, and green onions.) while it wasn’t the best Crab Rangoon pizza I’ve ever had (yes I’ve had others) it was still pretty good. The flavor was good, but not super crabby, more cream cheesy, and the crust was quite tough (again, braces issues, so if you don’t have braces, you’ll be fine). If I had to choose between the appetizer dip and the pizza, I’d go for the dip, as the texture and flavors were much better.

My friend ordered the FIRE GRILLED BBQ CHICKEN (Two fire grilled chicken breasts smothered in Hickory House BBQ sauce and served with your choice of two sides) and was very adamant about letting me know that it was “delicious” and he enjoyed it very much.

We got a few salads too! The menu is decently extensive which is good on them! The MICHIGAN CHERRY SALAD (Spring lettuce blend topped with dried cherries, candied walnuts, green apples, teta cheese and red onion slices served with a maple vinaigrette side) looked amazing and I started salivating when they brought it to the table. I was informed that the flavors were balanced, the cheese was good, the greens and apples were fresh and overall, it was a good salad.

ANTIPASTO SALAD (Fresh romaine topped with salami, ham, peppe red onion, mushrooms, roma tomatoes, black olives, banana peppers, feta or goat cheese and your choice of dressing) - this salad was FULL of stuff and I remember the person who ordered it saying that they were super full after eating it because it contained so much meat and other deliciousness.

I’d definitely return and would like to do so next year when I can sit...

It was terrible!!! Me and my date got there at ten. And we got seated and it took a while for a waitress to come to our table, which we can understand as I'm a waitress too. When she came to the table she got our drinks took our orders and then left. She did not return for at least twenty minutes just with the breadsticks?? Me and my date order the exact same thing. Buffalo boneless wings and an order of breadsticks. We got the breadsticks, which were NOT worth the wait or price. 6$ for 5 of them and they were small but we weren’t gonna complain as it is not her fault. We thought our wings would make up for it. But we waited AN HOUR. for two orders of wings. And when they came they weren’t even hot. We think she forgot. Honestly, very disappointing. And yet we kept our hopes up thinking maybe they'd be worth it? Nope. Nuh uh. We ordered a pound each but they were these itty bitty nuggets and there weren't a lot. For the price we expected a lot more or at least better wings. But they were dry and chewy, and we just asked for to go boxes because we were so done with this place. And it took her 15 minutes to grab TO GO boxes, and then she brought them and not our check, so we had to wait AGAIN for our check. We saw our waitress cleaning in the back rather than grabbing our check. Wow. As a waitress i’m severely disappointed. Don’t come here if your don’t have at least two and a half hours to spare. It completely ruined our night. We were so upset because the place is beautiful but the service and food is sub-par. We still left a tip, but man i really don’t recommend this place. Some better restaurants are Los Amigos or Whitlows. Better food, better service, faster service. Also!!! For us women!!! Theres NO lady products in the women’s restroom! We order every so often... we had one problem the last time when my debit card was charged twice. They fixed this. Which was great. Tonight I ordered $73.00 worth of food. Delivery was over an hour, which wasn't the issue if things were right. When our order arrived we checked everything. We ordered a pound of wings with creamy buffalo. We've ordered them before. Great sauce. But wings were delivered with no sauce. I called and talked to a young lady that we got everything but the sauce on our wings. She verified the Web order to see that I didn't make a mistake. She put me on hold. An Amy got on the phone who I'm assuming was a manager. I told her what happened. She said she was looking at my online order. She asked me would you like us to send me our order. Um I ordered wings with creamy buffalo. She said well you don't seem to be that far. I told her I wanted another order of wings the way they were supposed to come, and she could have the other wings back to show they made a mistake. All we got was a container of sauce and the ranch I paid for. So disappointed I was expecting wings tossed in the creamy buffalo that I have ordered before... the pizzas and spaghetti my daughter got were delicious... for a 70$ order you would think that remaking a pound of creamy buffalo wings would be easy.......my husband said when the driver dropped off the sauce he said it wasn't on the...
