Probably the best Vietnamese food we've ever had! My wife and I went in for dinner tonight and were incredibly impressed with both the atmosphere and the food.
We got shrimp spring rolls for an appetizer and they were delicious! For our meals, my wife ordered the shrimp vermicelli and I ordered the shaken chicken wok. From the moment the food hit our mouths, we were in heaven! The sauce on the shaken chicken wok was smokey with a slight sweet taste. My wife mentioned this is probably the best vermicelli she's ever had even outside of New York City. Afterwards, we were offered their crème brûlée. To say it instantly melted in our mouths would be an understatement. It was perfectly cooked with a slight crunchy glaze.
The atmosphere inside was calming and beautiful. Soft, soothing music accompanied the stunning visuals of each of the hand, painted murals. Don't forget to check out the outside koi pond!
I simply cannot express how amazing Old Saigon is! Both Liem and Jen, along with their children Chrissy and Alex, and staff have done an incredible job with this new edition to the Steiner...
Read moreThis place is still getting its feet off the ground so you will have to mind the fact they are still finding their groove. They have done a wonderful job with the renovation and ambiance of this place. There is a traditional and wide variety of Vietnamese dishes offered (hopefully they add bún bò huế🤤). I was almost dismissing going here because the prices looked unusually high for Vietnamese food BUT the large portions, ingredient freshness and quality, and great flavors ended up justifying the price for me. For the rare steak pho, the meat quantity and quality is far superior than what you will get at the mom&pop shops nearby. We also brought our kids. The kids meals are priced fairly and worth every penny. We got the grilled chicken and rice for our kid and it was delicious. Once the patio opens, it will be even better for the more rambunctious ones. This is a great addition to the Steiner neighborhood for those looking to sit and have a nice family meal or pickup...
Read moreThe bánh mì is exceptional. A bit on the pricey side, but probably had to do with how it was 50% meat, 40% bread, and 10% veg. Typically the bánh mì I eat has a lot less meat but this is fine, because the grilled pork was smoked, grilled, and seasoned fragrantly. The bánh mì consisted of grilled pork, cilantro, carrot, and mayo. Probably lemongrass too. I wish there were cucumber and stronger pickled carrot, the taste was a little weak. Although the fries that came with it tasted great. Crispy exterior, soft interior. I'll come back to try more out of curiosity. Surprised to see a really good restaurant inside the Steiner...
